Weird Mishaps on your FRS/86

Hey all,

I think it would be a pretty good idea and a funny experience to share your mishaps with your FRS/86.

Here is one of mine when I was in my friends 86. My friend went to fuel up for the first time. He tapped on the window and I rolled it down and he said the fuel cap was a BRZ STi fuel cap. He showed me and it was...

What are your mishaps?

Maybe you could even include

I started going sideways and I put my foot down more you know? But I wasn't thinking and the Traction Control was on, and it kicked in and brought me to a stop sideways

Pulling in the garage, I have a bump stop that I go over that tells me I'm in far enough.. As I go over the bump.. I'm creeping along and the rpms go lower as I go over the stop.. My DRLs go out completely as the engine goes below idle, it doesn't stall and the DRLs come back on when it comes back up to idle... Weird..

Mine does this too if I almost but don't stall. Weird that the radio keeps playing but the DRL go out.

Early this spring I was hanging out with my sister and her boyfriend. Well after we parted ways I was leaving the lunch spot and turning onto the highway. (I should note that for fuel economy reasons I run my tires around 46psi and it was about 35 Fahrenheits out). Anyways, as I'm pulling onto the highway, which is about a 150 degree turn, I gave the car a nice dig into the throttle. Well the factory tires, totally overwhelmed by a massive 130lb torques at altitude being pushed through them just thew in the towel and gave up. Within about 2 seconds I was doing a beautiful, yet totally unintentional doughnut in the middle of the highway (yes, traction was off because racecar). Thankfully, the cars on the highway around me amounted to naught and I was able to spin that lil' bastard around and merge in a highly unorthodox manner. The best part was I looked like a total jackass in front of them trying to 'prove' something by my accidental skid. Nonetheless, it was quite fun and at 11k miles my car's tire tread is just about worn off.

My mis-hap=allowing my wife drive the FR-S(she is helping pay for it). Stalling it at every stop, murdering my clutch, and nearly hitting a cop. Lesson learned....

Replace your worn tires, use recommended pressure, appreciate the lack of grip in lower temperatures, maintain throttle input, use traction control.... because other people.

well the first time i got gas was at a full service. i pulled up and asked the guy to fill it up with premium. he tells me my tank is on the other side.

edit: apologies, that doesn't really relate to the topic, just my own stupidity lol. something that does relate though happened a while back. it's the passenger window auto switch not working properly which several others have experienced. but yea i wasn't aware of it initially and was in a rush to get into the house. so i pulled into the house and pulled both switches completely and let go. i watched the driver side go up and assumed i was good to go. shut the car off and ran inside as my dad was putting on the sprinkler. luckily i was back out of the house in like 10min so water did get in but not too much. sucks though. at the time it was definitely a weird mishap, but it's supposedly common now.

Last week at autocross, I finished my last run (5 for our group, the run group was small enough to keep the car running through the wait), parked and packed up my stuff. Since this was the final run group of the morning, I got in the car to leave. Started the car up and it blew a cloud of smoke rivaling those of a Grateful Dead concert. I didn't know what it was, or if it was me, or if there was just some dirt blown up by the cooling fans. I hesitated for a moment, put in reverse and got a whiff of what I remember as catalytic converter material. (I've replaced cats before and new ones seem to 'burn' a bit with hot temps)

Needless to say, I have been freaked since. First, the interior heat has lifted the center dash area (look it up) a bit, then I noticed the cam plate is dirty/slightly moist, and then this. All in one week...

Wierd, yes. Perhaps not a mishap, I try waaaaay too hard to baby this car. However, I did finally hit a cone after about 8 autox's and 30 runs or so, right on the front lip!
