I once got 4 college girls into my 89 Supra. Had to take their drunk asses back to their dorm from a party (my freshman year in college).
I know what you're thinking "4 drunk college girls in your car! Sweet!" Nope, I had to drive 4 miles with them crowded in there. With my sport suspension being a bit bumpy, I was more worried about them spewing on my seats than anything else. |

Yeah I've used my back seat maybe twice since I got the car. Liftback and rear folding seats are a must though. I'm always amazed how much stuff I can cram in my car with the rear seats down. |

I'll have a DD anyway that will be used obviously for daily use but for 2+ passengers and to lug around items. The 86 and the S will be in the garage.

What's the point of a fun car if you barely use it?
My TT is my DD, and so will the 86 be if i get one.

Keep the mileage low. I never said I wouldn't use it. Both the S and the 86 will be driven in the summer, but put in storage in the winter months.

Woulda been nice if someone coulda climbed into the concept car rear seats for a photo.
As long as there's enough leg room (with the seats up front pulled up) for a short or emergency trip, it'll be fine with me. |

^ A spanish journalist at the show reported that averaged sized persons fit fine in the back for short trips.
I pretty much like the design of the concept's rear seats. It'd be pretty impossible to have them fold down though, with the speaker part in the middle. Maybe a 40/40 split or maybe have them fold UP for a split storage space... or even better, both options? |

All of the seats in that concept car were very 'concept car only' type seats. I really doubt the bean counters will let them release a car without the practicality of split folding rears. Almost all cars have folding seats these days, it's expected. The genesis coupe has folding rears, as do the challenger, camero and mustang. But I'm also really hoping for a liftback.

Until I need to cram a baby seat back there, the rear seats will be stored in a closet.

Put
It In The Backseat? The story reminds me of driving with 4 people in a Fiero. It was extra difficult because it was a manual with no sunroof. Shifting to second gear made her jump. Toyota could easily screw up the FT-86 if they start adding weight with a heavy hatchback, split folding rear seats, etc. |
