he can say what he wants. sounds a little pretentious and jealous to me. but whatever the case may be we're certaintly not a bunch of Civic owners.

I wonder if the STI owners don't even know about the existence of the twins...
I saw another twin today on the way to jacksonville dropping my family off at the airport, but I didn't catch up in time due to traffic to wave |

I find that most of the people who are "fanboys" are the ones who are on forums but never post anything technical. The big subaru forum in my state has two clear groups, the fanboy guys and the technical guys. Some of us are just plain gearheads and like almost anything with an engine.
As far as the reaction from the community about me getting a BRZ, well I am a different Subaru owner then most as I have never owned an AWD subaru. I went from a FWD to a RWD and skipped 18 years of subarus. It really depends on the person.

I get lots of looks from other WRB wrx's, but no others.
The other day, I saw a WRB wrx going the other way on the interstate at 9am. It was light out so I could see his head turned 90 degrees as we both stared across the median at 75mph. Then saw the same wrx going the opposite way as I headed the other way at 4pm, and we both did the same exact thing.. spotted from a distance, I thought.. "is this the same guy? it was!" Made me laugh. Subaru love. |

As a first time Subaru owner i was only vaguely familiar with the subaru wave and i never realize it till its too late.
is it just me or does anyone else feel the twins are more of a Toyota product haha (ie. 86) |

I'd say they're a bit of both. The design is everything Toyota which is great because they look great! But the chassis...everything's Subaru. Except maybe for the DI I think that's it idk LOL maybe im wrong, someone correct me if I am

You are correct. Design aspect and direct injection is from Toyota and the rest is Subaru. Subaru actually almost bailed out of the project because it wasn't them in regards of it not being AWD.

My neighbor owns an 09 STI. He waves to me all the time lol. He loves my FR-S (as do I) All the FR-S/BRZ owners around here are awesome. We all wave to each other, or give the point as we drive by.
When I used to work in downtown Pittsburgh, I'd see a handful of WRX/STI's every morning. They all waved and gave me a head nod. I'm 31. We're not all young whipper snappers that own these cars. I easily could of bought a WRX or STI, but I chose my Raven FR-S because of how much fun it was to drive. I live where there are a lot of back roads, and I love carving them up. This was a no-brainer for me. |

I honestly think many of the WRX/STi owners just don't recognize the cars in time to wave. My car is WRB and like kBerkel said, the WRB WRX owners definitely recognize the color and notice the car and respond...either good or bad.
That said, I do not think I have ever gotten a wave from a fellow twin, much less seen another one at a meet. Around here, I suspect the owner pool doesn't contain a huge amount of enthusiasts. So I can kind of relate to the STi guy.
