This confirms that the 2017 Toyota 86 will remain a monospec model, much like the 2017 Yaris iA that they also confirmed as monospec in a previous press release from July 29th. The 2017 Yaris iA increases in price compared to the 2016 model, which leads to recently announced pricing for the 2017 Toyota 86...

2) 2016-2017 Toyota Full-Line and Scion Pricing (8/18/16)

The 2017 Toyota 86 MSRP (before delivery, processing, and handling) will be $26,255 for manual, $26,975 for automatic (indicated as ECTi).
"20 city/27 highway with the six-speed manual" A 3 MPG drop over previous manual models!? My poor wallet...

BRZ premium $25,495
86 $26,255

The first comes with the spoiler standard. Curious.

I can see them doing a limited edition to boost sales or hype if needed. They just got rid of the Scion branding, the sales and marketing folks are probably the same bunch.

They had the 10 series for MY13. They would be silly not to have some kind of limited model available for the first year of it being a Toyota in America.

You're paying more for the Toyota badge

Which is $865

This represents an overall price increase over the former FR-S, which is no surprise given the state of the yen vs dollar.

So, other than the styling change and LED headlights, not many changes.

Disappointment that the LED right side display, auto climate, push button start, and other premium features won't be on the '17's in the USA.

If a premium/limited Toyota version were to come out would it be similar pricing to the sport tech BRZ (limited for the americans)? Here in Canada its around 38k MSRP... were any past Scion limited releases anywhere close to that price?

At least we finally got LED HIDS long overdue. I could live without auto climate and push button.

It could be combined HID and LED, but the brochure doesn't say that. It only says LED. Some of the all-LED headlamps I've used are very good (my Honda VFR has all-LED lights) but some, not so much.

I think that would be in Canadian dollars, so around 29k USD. That's not too too far off.

Did anyone else notice that in the press release they are claiming that the 2017 86 weighs 2,758 lbs with the manual, that is a good bit less than the 2017 BRZs.

Which are:
Prem: 2,785
Limited: 2,796
Limited + PP: 2,813

I wonder if only the subaru received more sound deadening.
