Lap timer on Android head unit?
I have a Joying 10.1 Android screen in my car I was previously using to run Torque. Now that I'll be running MoTeC I'll no longer be able to to display gauges on the screen without an inferior looking product from "gaugeart". I'd still like to find a use for the screen since I already have it.
My Camaro had PDR (Performance Data Recorder) built into the car. Now the picture quality wasn't the best but it was so damn convenient it made up for it in that regard. I'm wondering if it's possible to make my own PDR system built into the car using the Android screen I already have, an external GPS device and a bullet camera wired to the head unit in conjunction with an app like Harry's Lap timer? I'll probably end up just going with an AIM SmartyCam GP HD instead because it will be more accurate and probably less of PITA. I was just curious if what I'm talking about is even possible before I sell the head unit as I'm a big fan of having things integrated into the cabin. |

Why not run a Motec dash and a racelogic camera unit?

Well... if you've already bought a Motec ECU, this sounds like a fairly serious project. There is no consumer grade android software that will do what you're looking for well.

Mike, can you tell me what my cheapest option is for high quality picture with full data overlay from the Motec M130? I'm guessing it's the Aim Smartycam? But it will still cost close to 2K once I buy everything needed.

It looks like the new Aim Smartycam HD GP 2.2 is going to be my cheapest option no? It has a direct CAN ECU connection, so one less thing to buy.
