A little off topic

But i hear a lot of people that does their first oil changes have metal shavings in their oil.

Is that normal? And why is that theres metal shavings in the oil?

Is it only the first oil change or is it always like that?

Thanks to whom ever answers my question

Well, back in the day, it wasn't unusual to find a few shavings in the oil, especially during the first oil change. Why? Because the moving parts were just getting used to working together.

Then, they started putting magnetic drain plugs in the oil pan ..... which collected some of the shavings, which really freaked out some folks.

The internal workings of most modern engines are machined better, so that reduces the shavings in the oil.

If you find any, most of the time, it's just at the first oil change.

If you find lots of them, especially after the first oil change, the engine may be trying to eat itself ....

Thanks for the reply and its nice to know we have magnetic drain plugs too

Hopefully when I do my first oil change I wont find much metal shavings and hopefully wont find any at future oil changes.

Did you find any other metal shavings after your first oil change?

Well, I haven't had the oil changed for the first time. I only have about 5,000 miles on the car. Nope, I don't believe in changing the oil on a new modern car before it's scheduled.

I'll give the engine time to re-grind up the metal shavings ..... (just kidding).

Threw one of these on. The GrimmSpeed Strut Tower Brace. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pics.

You notice an immediate difference in how solid the front end feels. I never knew there was that much flex going on until I put this on. Throw it into a corner and you notice even more. Definitely a well engineered piece.

Definitely money well spent and the guys at GrimmSpeed were a pleasure to deal with.
