Assumption: Subaru=Turbo / Scion=NA

There are no information about a turbo model.
I know most of you want this car to stay true to the 86 but lets face it.
Its a scion/subaru and have a flat four. Not really a true heritage of the 86.

Anyway, here's hoping for Subaru to let us have a turbo option from the factory.
I know that you could put an aftermarket turbo on it and make big horsepower but some of us would like it stock and will probably keep the care stock for most of its life.

TRDQUICKSILVER, could you give us a breadcrumb please?

Subaru official have already stated there won't be any turbo ver for this car. Maybe down in future... but currently there's no plan for turbo ver.

Please stop it. There will not be a turbo. No turbo. Nada turbo. Zilch turbo. Zero turbo. What happens a few years after launch might be different.

Must've been the 5th time I've posted this....annyywhooo...

If this car is really coming out as a Scion, we would then have to assume it would be following the exact same buying cycle as every other Scion. That is to say, it would come in one trim with basically the usual shit standard (PW/PL/Keyless entry, etc.), and the rest is dealer addon, which means unless this car comes standard with force induction (and it won't), thats basically out of the question. That being said, Scion did offer a S/C for the tC beginning in 05. They actually offered it longer than I originally thought (A few years apparently) but have since then taken it away as an option, probably because of warranty abuse.

This car will not come with a turbo on its premier year. I'm 99.97% sure on that. However, down the road a bit we might see something. In the past Scion has done what was called the "Release Series", which are limited production run models that come pre-packaged with goodies. You could say, or hope to hope, that in the future, they release an RS series of the FR-S, with basically the big goody being a turbo. Who knows, its possible.

Honestly, I think the best you could hope for would be an eventual turbo addon option. But not for the premier year.

I'm sure there will be after market turbos available, but Toyota probably won't plan one for a while. If this thing has great sales, then I wouldn't be surprised if they added one later.

Yes, aftermarket turbo systems are possible on anything. But how am I supposed to pass smog in California? Please have a factory turbo option available for this car. I won't be buying a 4cyl without it having a turbo. I want more performance.

Hahaha, move out of Cali? Seriously, its amazing that state still has a car scene left in it...the yahoo's on the hill in that state would love to see you guys riding around in peddle cars instead.

Plus, if I'm not mistaken, several reputable aftermarket companies boast Cali smog legal turbo kits for cars.

But I'd first suggest to move out. Nissan already did. They in my back yard now.

The car scene in cali is really dull and imo it's already dead. I'd really just love to see a factory turbo because it'll make it easier for me to pass inspection aka hide upgraded turbo. Who doesn't love the feeling of boost?? Hell make a rally sport edition with the bare essentials to keep it cheap. 6sp man. with a turbo 4cyl, no power windows, just plain and simple.

Anywho that's all I'm banking on, I won't buy this car without the turbo. Hopefully they put a goodies package out there someday.
