I'm sure if you punch the BRZ/FRS in 2nd gear at around 4-5k you'll feel something, maybe a light breeze? Kidding...
I do this in my Civic and I get pushed back a little. My Mini Cooper S Auto also pushes you back a bit from a stop, but both are no match to cars like the AMG SLK, C5 Vette, or Camaro SS that I've driven. |

Over the last 20+ years of reading Car & Driver I have noticed they more often than not post the best times, but not always. Edmunds and Consumer Reports usually seem to be the slowest. |

The same highway speed in my 1st-gen Tib (51" high, same as FR-S) feels much faster than in a family member's Corolla XRS I occasionally drive (58" high). Another subjective factor influencing speed perception is sound. A Miata will be letting far more road, tire, and engine noise in the cabin than a 335i - again, creating a perception of more speed. |

By the way, the Astro will "throw you back in your seat" if you floor it from a stop or in first gear. Of course, that could just be transmission lag...

I always felt it when driving a really high performance car that it begs you drive faster, than a slower car that will keep generally almost anyone to drive it moderately.

Totally agree, I was in no way suggesting that the FR-S would be like that, just that fast and boring was not what I was looking for.
