If Ford can build an n.a. 8250rpm 5.2 liter V8 that meets all regulatory requirements, someone could build a 9000rpm 2.0 four. If the will was there to do so.

IN any case, it's a WISH list, right? What's the point of the argument: "they build exactly THIS because THIS is all they could possibly build"?

I still wish for a better-balanced lighter-weight 2-seater version...

That’s a $35,000 engine in a $20,000 car. The amount of base mustangs sold pays for the development of the entire platform and all special editions alone.

$17,700 engine retail from Ford Racing. 4 cylinder should cost a lot less than that...
The point: it is 100% feasible to build and sell high-rpm n.a. engines in 2020 model year cars. And again, the thread is a *WISH LIST*, why even have the thread if people aren't allowed to even WISH for something a wee bit better than what we have now?

You just take your special color and special brakes that aren't really needed and you like it!

Yes, and then add aftermarket suspension and a turbo.

Perfect

OK, sooooo….I'm finally gonna add my wishes in.

Here ya go:

283 cu in, 270 HP, 285 ft lbs of torque.

That ought to make that puppy scoot right along.

Besides, I could work on the engine, enjoy to listening to the back two barrels of the carbs kick in and, with real dual exhausts, and straight thru glass packed mufflers, enjoy the sound of a real engine working.

My objection is not to people wishing for anything. It is this mind set that whatever they want is "easy" or "can be done". They can make just about anything they wan within the regulations but it would cost. Not even going to try to discuss such things as carbon credits and how they use them to make specialty engines in top line cars. If the cars were built based on this wish list they would be two or three times the price they are and then it would be a whine list.

Nice, cast iron block, good for lots of boost.

Plus bringing back the carbies, nice, I think I still have a 650 double pumper in a box somewhere for a blow through.

Im excited

I did almost what you wrote. The car is awesome that way.
270 < 300 HP
286 ft-lbs > 225 ft-lbs
straight tru right after the the header down to tail pipe all glass pack and resonators.
Sound is a bit too aggressive sometimes. I have to control my throttle with civilians around
When the engine, supercharger, and exhaust scream together it is like

Ah, but that's 270 GROSS horsepower... Net is barely more than the FA20 makes! I bet...

If that. Many of the old gross HP rated cars made nothing like the numbers seemed. They did rock for torque though!

Cleaned out the basement last year and found my old carb adjusting screwdriver. Oh the miles and story's on that poor old thing.
