Bloomington Subaru has one. It's a Limited 6MT in Black.

Funny enough, it sounds like a Toyota 4AGE with a little more grunt.

They let me sit in it, and explore. The car is quite amazing. The sightlines out are perfect, the transmission feels less rubbery than other Subies, the gauges are my only disappointment in person. The angle favors a smaller stature driver and the font is a little difficult to read when parked. I didn't drive or ride in it while it was moving.

Go check it out.

I'll go, I have that day off. Let me know where/when we can meet and I'll be there.

Hey I'm from MN too. I'm really leaning towards the FRS. Just kinda like the simple interior and styling. Though I wouldnt have a problem with the Subaru either. Im hoping to get one by late 2012? Any thoughts. I wanted to get it for a cheaper price. Also is there going to be a lot of FRS/BRZ's in the comming year?

I wouldn't expect to get any deals this year. Most of us BRZ buyers in the area were able to get MSRP locked in. I'm not sure if the price announcement today will make that harder, or easier.

Either way you go FR-S or BRZ welcome! Both should be great cars.

OK. Yea I figured. The only other problem is winter. This will be my second year of driving and I dont want to reck a perfectly new rwd car like the FRS in the winter at any point. I was thinking of getting a cheap beater just for the 3-4 months but still would cost a few thousand.

Snow tires, snow tires, snow tires! They make all the difference.

That's what I'll be doing plus I work from home so not driving is almost always an option for me. Newer RWD cars aren't that bad on snow with stability control, traction control, ABS they car will do a lot of the the work for you.

Hi everyone, another newbie from the Twin Cities checking in. Great set of forums. I just put down a deposit two weeks ago on an FR-S, a manual, in Argento (silver). I was told I'm #6 on the dealer's list and that while they really don't know, they hope I'll see my car arrive in July / August.

As a former Miata enthusiast (I owned a '91, a '93, and a '99), this car is the Miata Coupe I always wanted Mazda to build. Loved my Miata's, but rarely used the convertible top -- in fact, I preferred to run them with the detachable hardtop on. And to those worried about winter use of a small, RWD, sports car, you have nothing to worry about. Get a second set of rims and some good quality snow tires and you're gonna have no problem getting around -- and a lot of fun doing it. (Haakapellitta's are the best)

I compared the BRZ and FR-S carefully, and considered both, but it just came down to 1) I like the looks of the FR-S front end better, 2) the FR-S is a marginally better value, 3) Subaru seems to be already sold out for the rest of the year, and 4) I like my Toyota dealer who I've done business with before (and strongly disliked my interaction with the Subaru dealer).

Really excited about this car.

Dave
