Got some snow here over the weekend and also drove around some massively salted roads earlier this winter. Since I had the car on the lift yesterday I decided to spend 30 seconds cleaning my RCE SS1s and I was pretty pleased with how they look with minimal effort! I should have taken a before picture...these things were absolutely caked in salt. Very happy with how the finish is holding up.

These things do pretty well in the snow (with winter tires). I'm going to raise my car a smidge for a little extra ground clearance though.

How far up and down can you go without screwing up your alignment? (Like can I go back to stock height during the winter and a 25mm drop during the summer)

toast: camber might change to reasonable extent, but i wouldn't like for toe changes, which can impact handling feel a lot, so would have preferred doing also alignment twice per year, one in spring with more camber for tarmac tracks in summer, and one in autumn, for more height & less camber for ice/snow tracks.

Looks like they're back in stock...? placed my order on the website.

I just ordered Tein Flex Zs too but am going to return them in favor of these. They came out to double the price, hopefully they'll be worth it!

I just received my SS1s (yay!) and have an installation question...

The rear shocks come with two nuts each. When installing the OEM rear top hats, should I put one nut below and one above the top hat? Would a drop of lock-tite be in order?

NEGATIVE SIR!

You install the OEM mount

Then you secure ONE nut to 15 ft lbs and then secure the second nut to the same 15 ft lbs.

Per the instructions on our website.

Happy installing!

My set arrived Friday. I finished the install and took the car for a quick spin on the highway today. No noises and everything seems tight. I set the dampers 16 from full stiff. I didn't get to hit any corners or much interesting pavement. This suspension is light years ahead of the koni/RCE spring setup I had on my bugeye wrx wagon with numerous other suspension mods. I was expecting a similar feel but it wasn't even close. No harshness or sharpness at all crossing highway bridge expansion joints. The only difference over stock I could feel was a slightly different oscillation to the car going over some irregular wavy pavement. I even hit a small pothole turning onto my street, that may have been a little firmer impact than stock. I had the ride heights at ~13" front and rear but raised them up to 13.5"-13.75".

I plan to have it aligned in 2 weeks so when I officially take the car out of winter storage I can hit the ground running. First SCCA Champtour is mid May!
