To the OP: you CAN get your money back. I did.

Here's what happened: paid guy through paypal as a gift. Ended up realizing it was a scam along with a few others the next day. Call paypal and state what happened. Apparently, you have a one time exception where you can dispute a charge that was gifted. After a few more days, I call paypal again asking the status of the claim. They basically said I was screwed, however after further review since I put the link of what I bought in the notes section of the payment, they were able to justify the reversal of payment. So, I got my money back.

Your best bet is to call paypal to figure out your options and ask if you can send them evidence to your purchase.

I have already talked with paypal, sending them his info along with all his threads with people saying they were scammed of their money. Hopefully that does something to reverse some if not all payments that were made to him.

This guy needs to be taken off the interent. He has been running rampit over various forums including bimmerforums, vwvortex, ft86club and many others.

Best of luck everyone!
You can also file a claim with your bank...where paypal won't help you your bank usually will regardless of if the payment was a gift or not on paypal

Just finished talking to a Paypal representative.

I have filed a dispute claim. The rep said they will look into this transaction and they will contact the seller.

If I do NOT receive the item by April 6th, Paypal will refund $300 for me.

It's weird because the representative didn't really care if the transaction was made as standard or gift option. I just said I didn't receive the item yet.

After the rep emailed me the dispute claim number, I let her know that this guy has been scamming multiple people on various forums online, she just said they will look into it. Didn't really ask me anything about it.

Weird but I guess I may get my money back next week. :wish:

Yes, please..

Refund wasn't really in mind when I made the topic.

It was to let other members know and troll him somehow. haha

I have ways of trolling, but can't type them while I'm here at work. They involve subscribing to all sorts of physical mail-based advertisements, subscribing his email to different "website" lists, getting the phone # put on telemarketing lists, etc.

Only gift if its a friend, nothing else.

And NEVER PAY THE GOD DAMNED 3%... Read the T&C on paypal. The seller can NOT ask for that 3%....

^^ this.. I always tell seller this is how much I could offer and I only pay non gift option. If he doesnt like it, fair enough GLWS.

forgot to tell you.. was the purchase backed up by credit card? What was your money source? bank or cc?
I never gifted anyone using PP, so I did not know whether or not your could choose where you want to fund the purchase.

If your purchase is backed up by cc, rest assure. You will most likely get your money back even PP gives you shit. Just call your cc and do chargeback. Keep all of the emails and documents. They might ask you for that during the investigation.

Let me tell you now.

Two rules of thumbs have been keeping me from getting scammed.

1. NEVER PAYPAL ANYONE USING GIFT OPTION.

2. Deal too good to be true especially sellers don't have much previous feedbacks. Red Flag.

If I'm using paypal, I will try to pay them using credit card for double protection.

Yea, you should have asked for an invoice. Paypal protects you from the fraud if reported within 30/60? days. The person cant gain access to your money until after that period. If you don't get the goods in that time you just ask Paypal refund you, and then Paypal takes the money off their account. The seller also would have to provide Paypal poof of shipment and receipt of the item to fight a fraud/refund claim (and most just ship it through Paypal to avoid this as a possible issue).

Sorry you got burned, most forum members aren't douches and sadly the ones that are can take advantage of the trust of the community.
