Ford better find a way to lose some weight off this platform with the next generation. The way it's trending, the next GT will hit 4000 lbs.

They may as well make it a sedan and give it usable rear seats if it's going to be that heavy.

So the Mustang like many other cars is an overweight huge pig and all the potential that was there in concept is not coming through in reality.
By the time you equip many of these models they are not as cheap as you'd think.
Well equipped eco boost models are $35+
Well equipeed gt models are $45+

Also that rear end is ugly as FOOOOOOOOOK!
Figure 8 time for the GT is pretty impressive. But yes it gained too much weight and Ford really should have considered slimming the car down and dropping 400lbs.

As for MSRP and Ford, we all know that within 12 months these cars will have massive incentives and I think those prices you are quote are fully loaded. You should be able to get a GT w/PP or a Ecoboost with PP for well under that. The value is there for sure. It just comes down to how the cars feel.

It looks like a good daily driver option, but multiple reviewers have complained about it on the track at the limit. At least it won't be spinning into a creek after every mid-corner bump. Insurance rates might even drop. Still, too big and too heavy for what it is, a cramped 2+2. For a car that size, there are too many sedans worth buying.

Know it is an old argument but the 4 cyl Mustang will cost almost $50,000 there (converted from pounds) vs $40,000 for a GT86. The 8 Cyl will cost almost $60,000!
For the difference in price you could do up a GT86 that the Mustang could never "smash it's face in" because all it would ever see is the GT86's taillights in the distance!

It's so unfortunate that Ford was not able to keep the weight off. It would literally need to shrink for it to loose weight, and it won't. It will always be heavier than most sports cars (not grand tourers) because it's supposed to be a big coupe with a V8. To make it affordable, it can't have spaceage carbon fiber or excess amounts of aluminum in it. As said before me, for a well equipped ecoboost mustang @ 35k, you could do ALOT to a GT86 with that price difference...

Bah. The twins are not about going fast. They're about having fun. Any car can be made fast. For the money, you can make a used Civic loads faster than a twin.

I don't know what this means to you, but a base ecoboost is more equipped than the twins.

I agree, except for the rear end, even the lowest "stripper" model performance ecoboost is $27,990 before all the taxes and fees that's BR-Z money only advantage is a more refined car with faster 0-60 I guess

Anyone that pays MSRP on a non limited edition Ford Mustang is a idiot. Seriously you will be seeing $5K+ discounts within 6-12 months and the Ecoboost will be a really good value.

That said, I already know it will be too heavy and big for me. I was really hoping the Ecoboost would be a lighter more balanced car.
