I've noticed it takes a while for the water temp to hit where it usually stays, but it's been cold so I hadn't given it a second thought. It usually takes me 5 miles or more of driving to see that needle close to where it needs to be. I'll report back after I get this recall whenever that is.

I agree. At least, the temp starts going up much sooner. With stock gauges, who knows when it really reaches operating temp.

I was wondering why I hadn't been notified yet of this TSB by Subaru. So I took a look at my ECU and I already have the second version of the ECU (811) from the factory so it looks like the recall only applies to BRZs with an orignal 810 version ECU.
FYI: Reading the number on the ECU without removing the ECU is not easy. |

I have the 811 chip and it qualified for this reflash.
Also, I have noticed that the tach sweep is gone after this update. Did anyone else notice this?

Just picked mine up from the dealer after having the Toyota version of this reflash.
The RPM drop during hard braking is gone and it feels like it's picked up some thing extra in the top of the RPM band. Huzzah! |

I really appreciate you letting me know about your ECU version. I will call up Subaru tomorrow and see why I have not been notified about the TSB. If the flash turned off the tach sweep that would be a change in DEFAULT behavior as mine had/has the tach sweep turned on from the factory. If I can talk Subaru into giving my car the flash, I will let you know if mine gets turned off.
I don't understand why people can be so grumpy? |

Okay this is the official word for WQC-39 from "Jodie" at Subaru corporate. I cut and pasted this from the email. My car missed by about 400.

I just got this reflash on Saturday and immediately noticed the throttle tip in is much slower (requires more input at the beginning). Parked the car and drove to work this morning (only 3 mile commute), so probably have less than 25 miles on the car since reflash. Sort of feels like those Mercedes Benz throttle, requiring lot of throttle tip in to get it to start moving, except now it's throwing off my manual transmission timing. Have not stalled it, but got close to it from not giving enough pedal tip in compared to before. Hope it goes away or my right foot adjusts to it. |
