Scion Racing Drift FR-S Unveiled 600 HP / 500 TQ
"Scion Racing / GReddy Performance FR-S was built in-house at the GReddy R&D facility in Irvine, CA under great secrecy. A GReddy turbocharged boxer engine powers the drift machine. The entire GReddy Team is excited to debut the drift FR-S at the season opener on the “Streets of Long Beach,” on April 6-7, 2012. "
--Due to the limited amount of time, the GReddy Racing Scion FR-S is currently powered by a Cosworth CS600 EJ25 long block and custom GReddy turbo kit with a front-mount intercooler. The EJ25 is a race proven and reliable boxer motor that offers many of the same benefits seen in the FA20 including a low center of gravity. We are currently working on a FA20 motor for use in future race programs. -Greddy USA ----DETROIT NORTH AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW----- The launch of the FR-S shifted into high gear in Detroit today when Scion unveiled the Scion Racing/GReddy Performance FR-S to compete in Formula Drift this season. The highly modified racer, to be piloted by Scion veteran Ken Gushi, boasts some 600 horsepower and more than 500 lb.-ft. of torque yet weighs 300 pounds less than the featherweight stock sports car. I figured the Drift car needs its own sticky thread for discussion rather than flood Hachi's NAIAS coverage thread.
