they dont calculate it like that, they just calculate how much it will cost to ship the cars everywhere in the same country and make a middle (im not sure im using the right word, but in french is "moyenne") so they charge the exact same amount for each cars for the same country.

So for comparison's sake: $25,990 versus:

Base MX-5 (5-sp): $28,995
Mazda 3 GT: $23,695
Mazdaspeed 3: $29,795
2013 GC 2.0t R-spec:$28,799
Civic SI: $29,990
Golf GTI: $29,375
2013 Base Mustang V6: $23,999: Premium $26,999; Sport pack $30,200
WRX $32,495

I'd say that comparatively, the price point is pretty well-positioned. Same as an SI - nice!!

And there will be no cash on the hood or dealer negotiation on the FR-S for many months.

That price is MSRP, no freight. OTD is $31,188 on manual in Ontario - see
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...29&postcount=8
for calculations.

Man, if it's only $25,990 in Canada and the BRZ is marked up quite high I might have to pull my deposit and go for an FR-S. If the BRZ is reasonable I'll still stick with that though for the creature comforts. :P

OTD in California is going to be 28-29 for the Scion, so its like a 2-3 grand difference if we are comparing OTD to OTD. That is very good in general for Canada.

Actually I disagree - my 140 hp FWD 1998 Tib with sports package was $18k after a 1k end of model year discount and some hard negotiating that knocked off another 1k. After accounting for Canadian inflation that is $23,970 in 2012 dollars. So for 2k more I'll be getting a true sports car with 60 more hp, RWD, and a far more sophisticated suspension. Good deal.

Huh? Sorry, that makes no sense. OTD always includes everything, and everything includes taxes.
