Trusted shop in GA for DI issue

Possibly looking for a trusted shop in Georgia. I am in Warner Robins and I've had the DI popping noise and believe the DI seals could be damaged. The car still runs great and I don't have a hunting for idle issue yet, but I want to get this resolved before the engine pops. Obviously, I'm not willing to have this car worked on by some redneck shop down here that isn't familiar with this car and it's D4S system.

Also, anyone have a ballpark idea of the cost to have the new DI seals installed. I've heard it's not so easy to remove the intake manifold on this vehicle.

The reason I'm looking to have this done myself and out of pocket is because my car is tuned and based on what I've read so far; Subaru wouldn't cover this under warranty. Even though I still think they should since there are quite a few cars out there having issues with the DI seals. The fact of the matter is, we live in corporate America and Subaru of America will do anything possible not to pay out of pocket for a design flaw of theirs. But I don't expect any company to do that anyway.

Thanks!

Can't help you with a shop but my advice is to go to the dealer first and take your chances.

I had a lot of work done on my Mustang at Mo's Speedshop, which is believe is run by some of the guys from the former MPH performance shop.

Not sure what they know about the BRZ / FRS, but maybe its a starting point?

Good luck. I agree with BRZnut. I'd start at the dealer... worst they can do is tell you no.

I'd take it to Topspeed. They have their own BRZ shop car, and have been in the Subaru game for quite a while. I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

Already talked to the dealer. They won't do shit unless I can replicate the pop or if there is a CEL. All I could have them do is document that I called about the issue so at least when she's explodes there is evidence that I already told them what was going to happen.

Thanks evo! I'll do a Google search.

If you're running stock and they can't deny claims just run it 'til it blows and get a new engine. It's their own damn fault. Subaru dealer's been blowing me off after I take time and waste a day taking my outback into the shop saying they can't replicate problems I've been having, so I've started filming it with my phone, making sure noises/problems are audible, and showing it to them at the dealer. Then they really can't argue with me. It also helps to talk to someone at the dealer who knows what they're doing, a lot of the older guys at my local dealer blew off my wife when she took it in (really ticked me off), but one of the younger guys who has a WRX took care of me. A sympathetic ear always helps.

It's such a shame we have to work so hard to tell Subaru and their dealers that there is an issue. My car is not stock though, I could flash back to stock but I'm sure SOA would be able to tell the ECU has been flashed. As soon as I start to have a rough idle, which is the next symptom of the DI issue I'll take it back to them. No way they can deny that when it's happening right in front of their face.

I would take it in to dealer first as others said but i completely agree with OP that there is high chances they won't do shit. also, OP cannot risk running a car that could be damaged and won't get covered under warranty.

Honestly if I flashed my ECU and had subsequent problems I'd cover my tracks and delete any reference to mods on this forum. I know we're paranoid about them doing forensic work to determine if someone re-flashed or whatever, but honestly I think it's unlikely, and you're more likely to out yourself here than by re-flashing your ECU.

If anyone's actually had them determine they'd flashed back to the original ECU please post it. At this point I really think it's speculation.

Exactly, can't risk Subaru being ****s about this when the engine 'nades. New injectors install is cheaper than a new engine.

Just do a bunch of 3 -> 4 gear pulls? Or at least that's what I read on here will accelerate any DI failure.
