Dude I wouldn't even pay that for a new one let alone a used one, let alone a four banger. I pay 275 for this one and it had 43k on it when I bought it and I'm on track to pay off in 36 months now 24, if I don't trade it in for something else which is most likely to happen. 400$ a month just seems like a lot of money for a used car. You must have got raped on interest

Yeah this was my first car with my name on it and the interest rate was pretty high. Will be refinancing beginning next year.

I don't like paying a lot of money for a car payment (no car payment is better). This is why I've yet to get the corvette. Can I afford it yes, do I want to afford it, hell no because it doesn't make much sense to me. HHAHA my priorities are warped

LOL unfortunately the only way to establish credit is to first establish a bunch of debt!

I agree as long as the limit on the amount that can be taken to small claims court is higher or close to what your losses will be. What is the quote for the repair?

Well, Toyota is paying for parts so I'll be paying labor which is $2,000

What exactly do they plan to replace in the engine?

At least it went somewhere. I still think you shouldn't need to pay for labor cause it was not your fault in the first place.

Has anyone considered that the previous owner might have had a massive turbo bolted to the engine, which weakened the stock rods to the point one eventually failed on N/A power.

Yeah, that's Toyota's theory

Yeah the reason Toyota doesn't want to pay for everything is because after the engine was replaced last year, the owner took in in for service and toyota documented "customer advised that all aftermarket parts must be removed before we can do any work".. But they never specified what aftermarket parts exactly. Which is why I have a good case against Toyota trying to deny warranty now saying it was caused by the aftermarket parts the previous owner had last year... But if it was never noted what aftermarket parts specifically he had, then they can't legally deny my warranty.

Well after I send Toyota an email pretty much saying that, they called me 2 days later with an offer... The offer was that they'll pay for parts and I pay labor... Labor cost is $2,000... I said yes because I'm still paying the monthly payments on a car I can't even drive so I just want to be able to drive the car. So for now I'll he paying $2,000. But here's another thing...

I also called my extended warranty and told them that Toyota is paying for parts so I was wondering if they could pay the labor. They looked over the case and told me they are considering it. They told me to pay for it and send them the receipt and they will look it over and tell me if they can help me and if so, they'll see how much they'll help me with.

So I'm hoping the extended warranty can cover at least some part of this, hopefully all though.
