Enjoy your corolla axio gt if you don't like it then.

I hope this thing can keep up with the S2000. If it does I'll be extremely happy!

the s2k is no opponent for the "stock" ft86
s2k has around 260hp on 1150kg and much modifications - its a race car

if the ft86 can keep up or be faster than a Renault Clio RS Cup (same weight/power ratio) - it would be fantastic

Yeah the s2k has more power even though it might be slightly heavier. I also believe it wont be a match.

S2k barely makes a high-strung, peaky 240; but nonetheless has a very, very capable chassis that I don't see the FT86 comparing to unfortunately.

What I see in the pictures is that the front is very tall. silly euro pedestrian crash tests mean that something like the S2k hood will, unfortunately, never happen again.

Look at that front fender versus the mules: sure, the mules are flared, but they also rise 6" versus the hood of the S2k being basically flat.

I was hoping that the FR-S concept would have its fenders 'flattened down,' because the hood was relatively short; for the pictures here, it looks like they've raised the hood instead.

The low, sleek front clip of the Mk.I FT-86 was the piece that stood out the most to me, and I knew to prepare for disappointment when they said that was basically the only thing that wasn't production ready; but it still hurts.

Over all i love the car so far, its got just enough of everything haha.I do hope those brakes make it to production though and that rear valence area stays blacked out to give it that "Straight to the track" look haha.
Im a big fan of the rear and the front design as well, the lip protrudes just enough to give it a sleek look!

The only reason the side profile looks so bland and the hoodline looks like its lacking is because the angles that break up such a large plain has been covered up! On a performance note the exhaust appears more "opened up" and it has a much lover ride hight than the mules!
Just my 2cents!

I FOUND THE WHEELS!!!! they are BBS RF wheels from BBS Japan. 1 piece forged aluminum. 17x7 or 17x7.5.

http://www.bbs-japan.co.jp/pro/pro_i.html

i initially thought they were enkeis because of the PF-01, and also because enkei's newest wheel, the Raijin, looks very similar, albeit in a 7x2 spoke design.

im actually bummed. i wanted these to be OEM wheels. feels bad man...
i also wanted the brakes to be OEM options. but they could also be aftermarket parts used just for the race. although that front caliper design is very unique and i've yet to find more pics of it. the only places where i've seen those brakes were on the FT86 II concept in Frankfurt and on this car. so hope is still alive!

Interesting discussion! At first Manny pointed out they were Enkei's but since Madfast posted the BBS wheels, they are definitely BBS!

While the S2000 had a peaky engine, a race track such as the 'Ring it would not be difficult to keep it between 6-8,000 rpm, i.e. in VTEC on the big cam the entire time. Once you're above 45 mph on a track the lack of low end torque becomes a non-issue unless you're being held up by some seriously slow traffic.

I am also concerned about the height of the hood for the FR-S but am hesitant to blame the Euro-Pedestrian law, as this car has a flat four engine placed back far in the chassis. With that design there is absolutely NO REASON for the hood to need to be tall, especially in the front. Absolutely none. I mean the S2000's entire engine is mounted behind the front axle line. In front of that you have a radiator and the air box and nothing else. So no reason to have a higher hood for pedestrian "protection". I would hope that the FR-S will be the same way.

I always thought a low hood sloping up and back towards the driver was supposed to be the proper design for pedestrian protection. Something about half-dead bodies being able to roll off . . . . For example, every Honda except my square-as-a-house Fit used to have a sloping hood with, by the way, a lovely view of the road.

[No sarcasm intended in the above.]

It's very limited on size but I'm going to guess 17x7 F and 17.7.5 R - 5/114.3

AS its from a decent manufacturer, anything you want... and if not they'll supply a black undrilled wheel, so any decent macine shop can do what you want, for example from a 4/98 to a 6/120. Absolutely anything you want is available.
