in my short time on this earth, i have noticed that the people selling cars don't really know that much about them... how come there is never a car enthusiast salesman?
I tried it once. Turns out I was only good at selling 350zs . Didn't sell anything else

When I went to the Scion dealer to test drive the car, I thought I'd test the guy's knowledge a bit by asking some basic questions. I asked, "Does this thing have HID headlights?"

He looks at the lights, mumbles a bit, walks around the car, and says, "Ah, yes! Yes, it does. It has LED tail lights, so it has to have HID headlights!"

Haha yea my dealer actually admitted that he didn't know much about the car. No biggie though I knew everything I needed to. Just had to test drive it

I heard someone at the SD Auto Show talking about a 300HP AWD STi version "coming out next year" as if he'd heard this for sure somewhere.

I am absolutely 100% satisfied with the general publics lack of knowledge regarding the BRZ…

In fact, it makes the BRZ seem more exotic to the average person as they truly do not know what it is… For instance, you could de-badge your BRZ and then place Ferrari emblems on it with some new wheels and a big brake kit and this car would fool a lot of people…

I take satisfaction in knowing that my soon to be DD will be a BRZ in Limited Trim.

I prefer this scenario over one such as owning a Mustang where every person on the planet knows what it is…

This just makes life a little more interesting IMHO…

Why do you ask? Because the Civic Si has 197 hp and the BRZ has 200 hp...so it is basically the same...

People need to be educated but you can't really blame them. The car is coming from a company that mostly makes family cars (outside of the wrx and sti....which still can be a family car). I just had a young kid driving a toyota celica ask me what I drove at a gas station. I reiterated that it was a Subaru...then said it was a BRZ
I own a 2010 Si and I do want to compare both cars but the engine in the Honda is a lot better....it's more tune friendly and makes serious power for a little 2.0l( intake , exhaust, header and some nice tune it is at 200-220whp and also does sound a lot better than the BRZ/FRS....cars do have similar suspension setup too (struts front, and double wishbone upper arm/multilink.

The frs/brz does look a lot better and it's RWD!

The first thing people do when they spot my car is walk around to check what it is and once they see it's a Subaru the first thing they ask is if it's 4wd. I gladly smile and say no.

my dealer didn't know anything. I told him to do the papers and paid by cheque and left. if it wasn't for this excellent site I would not have known how to fix the window problem. dealer didn't know anything as usual! I wont mod it as it negates insurance coverage.

Met a dude pumping gas in his brz , I was driving my civic (it's winter) went up to him to ask him some questions and I acted like I didn't know shit, lets just say he doesn't even know what "brz" stands for .. Now that's sad .
He did not know brz stood for Brozinski?!

If I'm chatting up about my car with someone or showing them my car, I'll often ask if they know much about Subaru's in general, and most of them have no idea what a flat-four is.
