Manual shifter rattle?

Hi,
Just started noticing when i get about 4k in 2nd and 3rd gear my shifter makes a loud rattle. I removed the knob just to make sure that wasnt giving me issues and its doing it in the actual shift. In 4th gear no rattle works fine. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Well toyota covered it under the tsb on the shifter hopeful no more issues but I did notice they have me flagged cause of my mods.

Can the shifter assembly be changed in the cabin or do you have to be under the car?

How long did it take for them to fix it?
Thanks!!

I have this same issue, 3 different shifters all had the same issue.

Went from Stock, Shiftek, then to a Kart Boy. All rattle, most noticeably under full throttle and higher RPMs.

Only thing I can think of that I haven't tried is removing the Whiteline KDT926 Gearbox Bushing. Maybe after installing it increased the NVH enough to cause this?

Anyone else with this issue have the gearbox bushing?

I have the kartboy, remove the shift knob exposing an allen screw, and use an allen key to take off the screw. Remove the spring inside and put some grease in there. That was able to remove the rattle for me. Just engage the reverse lock out a few times and wipe off the grease that comes out. You dont need to add too much

Thanks for the info. Just added some grease to it now. Will test drive tomorrow to see if anything changes.

I have this rattle as well, everything related to the trans/shifter assembly is 100% stock and never been touched. At high rpm, say 5k+, it starts to rattle really bad. Never taken it anywhere yet, but the amount of problems I'm having with this car are really starting to build up.

Anyone know what this problem is?

After adding some grease it did quite it down very very mildy while on cruise control.

Getting on the throttle/anything past 3k and it still rattles.

I am going to chalk it up to the positive shift bushing I installed and move on. I might install the perrin rear shifter bushing as well, maybe it will change the NVH and make it stop.

I'm afraid if I take it into the dealership they will just say its an issue with the kartboy.

Just an update. Removed Whiteline transmission bushing insert. Rattle is gone.

It also stopped making a high pitched soft whine in 6th gear while under 65 MPH.
