I wish people would stop using the chick car stamp on everything. I've seen more girls in a high school parking lot get out of Mustang GTs or Camaro SSs than anything else. Hell i know a girl who has a pretty sick nismo 370z. The label "chick car" has lost it's meaning today really.

this is a great idea having a convertible version of the 86. Having owned a convertible for 2 years (before the FRS), I can understand how popular this could be. I also think that the convertible will be available here in the states. As for racing or autocross, the convetible would prob be heavier and not as well ballanced as the coupe.

Mustangs are most certainly chick cars. Break down how many you see driven by women vs by men and it should be apparent.

The convertible looks nice, but I just can't take convertible people seriously. They're a grand touring crowd, not true sports car people.

MX5 and S2000 disagree.

It's not the car but the people who tend to buy them.

this makes sense, seems like the progression of most sports cars is the following:

> base coupe
> convertible
> update with +10ish hp
> track model
> swan song...Mazda did this and made a turbo mx5. If they ever do produce a turbo model of this car I expect it to come in 7 years right before the next generation (if there is one)

I have a fear that this convertible will be heavier and less balanced than the hardtop one....

IF, and only IF, the convertible has the same chassis rigidity as the hardtop, same (or less weight) and more hp, then I will trade in my hardtop in a heartbeat!

Gladly pay $30k for it too!
