Help! Running water.
Has anyone noticed water (I mean lots of water) dripping from the glove compartment area?. I first turned the fan speed to 1, temp to cool-cold, a minute or two later it started making this sound running water like sound, then a hissing sound followed by a loud hissing sound and BOOM her water broke? ... Seriously I'm thinking its the AC but there was so much water.

There would be an obvious smell if it was the heater core.

Sounds like your A/C drain hose. It is generally about $50 to remove and clean it at my dealership. $150 is robbery.

That's all robbery.
Use a metal clothes hanger or something, get under the car and shove that shit up in the drain hose. Paying someone $50 to clean out a hose is blasphemy. $150 is insanity. |

Help! Running water.
To late, but thank you. at-least I know what to do next time. I got a little panicky when this thing started gushing water to the carpet LOL My worries was water damaged and the electronics if I wait longer. After taking some of the water out next is to buy some moisture absorbents to finish it off. Can someone move this thread to the issues section?.

Wait, your dealership is making people pay? This sounds like a warranty issue - it's a design flaw, given how many of these threads are popping up (I have the same problem, noticed it last weekend). No way should I be paying to unclog a drain after only 1 year of ownership.

It's not considered by ANY manufacturer (I've worked for Honda and a few other Toyota dealerships) to be a "defect in worksmanship or parts" so it is therefore not covered under any type of warranty. It is generally caused by insect webs/nests in the hose and therefore an "act of god" Just to be clear this isn't what I believe but it's the automaker's official stance. I will usually do the first one for free and warn the customer of the potential for it to happen again. Toyota has parts kits for some cars which include an insecticide tip for the hose to keep your unwanted passengers out, but as far as I know there isn't one available for the 86 as of yet...

Of course. Mazda had a whole recall because spiders were clogging up the fuel system. I think GM had a similar recall too. If this was rare, I can see dealerships charging. But given how 'young' this car still is, it's obviously a design flaw if there are multiple threads about this issue.
