Or what is the Delta pre and post cooler on say JR Oil Cooler kit?

I get to about 155F in close to same time as before but after that it takes forever to get to even 170F in 60F ambient temps. But if its a 15+ degree pre and post difference then maybe reading 170F on OBD would be fine.
I would expect to see more like 40F pre-post.

For daily duties you may need to block off some/all of the oil cooler.

Even wirh a thermostat closed, a certain percentage of oil still passes through the cooler.

Yeah a 180f t-stat has 10% flow until 160f then gradually opens until fully open at 180f, but i believe what mike was saying is the oem sensor is post filter/cooler and is then only reading temp after its been cooled. So I could easily be at 190f coming out of engine but oem sensor is reading 170f going back to oil pan. With 0w20 im just not going to worry about it once oem sensor reads 160f ill full send. Maybe ill tap a line pre cooler someday to test it.

Into the sump?

If the sump is between 95-115° C "rule of thumb" says your good to go.

Max prefered delta between coolant and oil is 10° C I believe

Oil is best performance wise at 100-110°C, again, rule of thumb

Not sure about this whole 0w20 oil thing, I've only ever used 5w30, but my climatic conditions may differ from you

Have fun playing

Years of asking questions at the track, at the shops and running a R33 and a MX5 is all I've got.

There's alot of speed shop stuff on google as well IRT delta, prefered temps and other groovy oil stuff, good engineering principles and the basics are easy to find, also have a look at heavy industry, alot of information there IRT oil temps/lubrication/pressure

I've followed these "rules of thumb" over the years and they have served me well.

I'm happy for anymore info you have IRT oil temps and/or control, it's always fun learning

I've come from a Nissan RB background where trying to control oil is the nemesis of every owner who tracks their car

FYI, our owners manual. It does say in next section a heavier weight oil can be used in extreme conditions. For DDing, especially with a oil cooler ill stick to the recommended weight.

This is true, I purchased the kit for 2017+ models for my MY13 BRZ. Fits just fine. It was on clearance for $460 couldn't pass it up.lol

Yeah, my ambient temps are from around 5° to 40° C

I care not for fuel economy either

I'm sticking with 5w 30 and I change it every 5k km

Opinions may vary

Post up your oil temp and pressure before cooler and then after installation

Same for your coolant temp

Any idea where you get your temp and pressure readings from yet?

Data is always nice to look at
