Quarter Panel Deadening - factory deadening?

So I am preparing to deaden my car tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has done the rear quarter panels? There seems to be some kind of factory deadening sheet but I'm not sure how good it is as the panels seem to not be deadened at all. Did you guys remove it or put your own deadening over it?

Side question: The wheel bump is visible from inside the cavity, is this a good place to put some MLV over the hump part to reduce road noise or should I just leave it as is?

I did mine. With the rear interior panels out, and the trunk interior panels out, it's easy to cut some strips to fit up along the inner fender from beside the rear seat all the way to the trunk. I just layed some additional deadener over the factory stuff also. You don't have to cover the entire area, I probably covered around 50% of the surface area, and it made a difference. The radio seems to play"tighter", no booming or rattling anymore.

I put my Damplifier pro in patches around the factory deadener, but not over it. I didn't put any on the wheel wells as they actually sounded pretty solid from what i could hear, putting a couple blocks on the quarter panel section seemed to help quite a bit though.

Sounds good. I'll probably work around it and hope it holds its own.

There is virtually no factory sound dampening on the quarter panels. I stripped the entire interior and did the floors, trunk, quarter panels and trunk lid. Tapping on the quarter panels or trunk gets a solid thunk with no reverberation in the panel.

Made a huge difference in the interior noise level.
