Transporting that across state lines is asking for a cavity search!

I had a tire that was low on air once. I replaced the car.

So basically just get battery cleaner at the nearest parts store for guaranteed results.

Get some nitrile gloves, safety glasses, and wear some shitty old clothes. Take out that battery and hose down the whole area carefully so it doesn't spray around. Use more pressure once it's rinsed. soak the battery bracket and fasteners in fresh water. Scrape off the corroded shit remembering that it is saturated with sulfuric acid. Rinse often. Don't spread it around and don't kick up any dust.
Now rinse off the battery and wipe it down. Check the electrolyte levels per the owner's manual. It still applies.

The initial wetting is to prevent kicking up dust. Same goes for cleaning up rodent droppings.

Obviously, most of you people didn't live in the shadow of the Great Depression!
We just didn't run into town to buy store bought stuff every whipstitch. We used what was available, like baking soda. After a box of baking soda (used for cooking) was partially used, the half used box was put in the bathroom to use for brushing our teeth. After it got too hard for that it was put in the ice box to absorb odors. THEN, after it was all full of odors, it was used to neutralize battery acid. SMH - at the spoilt generations. humfrz |
