Exhaust pops & bangs

I heard on the radio that some cities are planning to outlaw exhaust with pops and bangs! Reason is because of a number of incidents where people thought the pop from a car was an active shooter and led to evacuation and people nearly trampling each other. The most recent one being at Time Square. Can they do that? Its political correctness going mad.

Pops and bangs are already illegal in almost every place in North America. Maybe they will finally start to enforce the laws though. I have at least 4 race car wanttabe bros in my neighborhood that have extreme pops. They are annoying as fuck and you can hear them 10 blocks away with their fart cannons and super loud pops. If I ever get to meet up with one of them I will tell them to their face that they are a moron.
It isn't "political correctness" to ban those stupid fucking noises it is common sense.

I'm not even an old man like Tcoat and I find the pops and bangs annoying as fuck. And I'm only 30!

But the exhaust crackle is the biggest thing with car manufacturers. New Jags and Mercs are all over it. Would they get ticketed too?

Not talking some crackle here. I am talking about exhausts pushing 100 decibels at 100 meters from the car and pops that literally DO sound like gun fire. Of course since they love the noise so much they will redline downshift as much as possible even if only driving a block. It is seriously a problem in my neighbor hood right now.

I also hate this fad. It wasn't a big deal when cars did it naturally and not often. Having it happen so loud and on command is terribly upsetting when you're in your home trying to relax.

Make it illegal, please. People can't control themselves. In a rural state like Vermont, it is affecting wildlife and outside animals lives somewhat. Someone 2 roads down has a Ford Fiesta ST that does gunshots on deceleration. My cats all get scared, and I'm sure other people's dogs feel tortured. I can't imagine horses

We had one BMW who always showed up to the Friday night meet spot with a backfire tune.
Constant parking lot 2 step, squealing the tires and generally being annoying to everyone else trying to enjoy the meet.
He wrote it off a few weeks ago wrapping it around a tree in a residential zone. A friend in the community heard it happen around the corner from his work.

I don't want to say I'm glad it happened but the meets are much less noisy and filled with less police.

The thing that pisses me off is that morons like these are the reason why it feels like the whole world is clamping down on cars. Legislation is being introduced in Europe to ban all loud exhausts, even OEM. So manufacturers will actually have to make them quiet. In Toronto we’ll have something like that coming soon. Bunch of selfish idiots

Mine was until this spring when this group showed up. Three are newer VWs and the worst is a totally riced Civic with wide body, slammed with about 45 degrees camber and the loudest exhaust I have ever heard. I am pretty sure I have never seen it do more than about 30MPH so that is probably it's top speed even though he can get off about 5 gun shot pops in a block.

I have little doubt these guys meet up someplace nearby. I need to just drive around and look for the man buns and vape smoke I suppose. The worst part is that they seem to just drive around the block about 10 times and never seem to actually go anyplace else.

Nobody is going to hear your pops and bangs on a backroad. First gear everywhere or bust.

I laughed at the man bun comment more than I should have.
We just hired somebody the other week and have nick named him man bun.
He asked me the other day what it was like growing up without internet.

Fun part is that many tracks have very stringent restrictions on how loud your exhaust can be. The guys tuning for these pops have no clue what a track is of course.
