I'm shopping around and I have received quotes as low as $25,981 for a brand new 2019 with PP.

Tri-state area.

The fact is that most owners probably can't tackle jobs like adding keyless entry, brembos, or sachs dampers. It would be a difficult conversion and your car would barely gain any value because at the end of the day... it's still a 2014.

That being said, it probably wouldn't worth upgrading to a 2019 or 2020. You'd still be better off waiting a few more months to find out whether or not the 2nd gen will be released for the 2021 model year. If it looks like the 2nd gen will take another year or 2, check out the "price paid" thread and buy a new 2019. You should definitely be able to pick one up for under 28k. Or... maybe a 2017 for under 23k.

as a guy who did quite literally this (15 to 18)

get the 17+ redesign. and enjoy it XD unless you are really savvy with a wrench and can get back door deals on used parts for the conversion it wont be worth the time. I only add up cost into the parts i put on or swapped out. and not my time, but if i was realistic with how much time ive spent at like 125 an hour ( california yo) id be in the whole alot more than I am now...... alot..

like another BRZ alot

If you track your rig regularly…once per month / quarterly, sure it could be a good upgrade. The stock calipers aren't crap. The less you brake, the faster you'll be.

This only makes sense if you feel that the BRZ is your soulmate....the car for you.

In that case and if you're comfortable with the financials, then yeah, a 2019 w/PP will be a sweet car.

Just as another data point, I bought a used 2017 w/PP with only 1900 miles on it last year for $24k. It came with the factory short shifter, factory STi muffler-back exhaust and new Michelin Pilot A/S3+ tires. I'm very happy with it for the price.

I guess you saw those too. Anyway, I am in the same boat. My stock brakes are good enough, and now that I painted the calipers, I don't mind them at all.

When did you paint them? I'm wondering what it will be like through winter because I want to paint my calipers too. Probably black.

They got painted gold on 05/17/19. So far, the paint is holding up great! Thanks!

What is the cheapest way to retro fit the brakes? I do like them. Some local junkyard sell the full kit for $2k. Is it too much?

IDK what condition the Performance Package Brembo brakes from the junkyard are. But, from what I've seen, the going rate is between $2k & $3k shipped, depending on condition.

There really isn't a cheap way of doing them.

Do they at least use the same caliper carrier/bracket? A complete common BRZ calipers only cost $160 on eBay. PP is a much better deal.

Look at RR racings street BBk. Good quality for cheaper than than stock PP brakes.

I touch up my calipers every time I rotate the tires. I kept the stock silver color.
