Glad you hear you got it all sorted out We will be adding additional datalogging support for all ROM types in the next big datalogging update that we are working on how. Don't have an ETA just yet. It's a pretty big undertaking but we are doing what we can to speed things up.

I tried the DEV file method and decided I wanted to go back to the old way. Now I can't save my bin files. I get an error message when I try to create a backup of the bin files. Any ideas?

No need to do a back-up since none of the ROMs have any unique vehicle data (vin number, etc,.) And there is a bug in the newest OF Manager software that prevents back-ups anyway. When you generate tune ROMs using the .dev file, they cannot be saved/downloaded from the OFT. Just upload files normally and they will over-write the .dev generated ROMs.

So how do I save a copy of the original ROM that came with the car? I would like to have it someplace in addition to on the OFT.

That is how I have done it in the past. Now it says "downloading error" when I try. I think that is the glitch Shiv referenced above. I am trying to find a work around.

Only thing left to try would be

Write stock ROM back to car
Erase OFT with OFM software
Read stock ROM again
Save stock ROM
Load up .bin tunes

Just received my OFT and I plugged it in and saved my stock tune(like the YouTube video) but its not letting me write files. What could be the problem?

Usually this means your car's Rom is either unknown type or you Rom was not completely stock. Ie some other tuning device such as ecutek / brzedit has been used previously.

if so try erasing the mod file database tunes and load up .bin tunes it should write those

Has anyone flashed back to stock and taken their car in for a flash from dealer?

Interesting experience tonight. Took my car back in for 15k service, and in the meantime inquired about the idle drop TSB. I watched them try to flash it for a little over an hour and the software kept coming up with an "unable to communicate with ECU" error. I'm going back in on Monday for them to try and diagnose the issue.

This was their first time trying to flash an FR-S. It could be an issue on their end. I do, though, wonder if it's an issue OFT could have caused -- anyone else done this successfully?

If you can read and flash your ecu with your OFT then all is ok.

If you carn't after the dealer has touched it check the fuse for the 12v supply to the obd port .

OFT tunes do not lock, encrypt change seed keys or change anything to do with flash process.

The dealer gear is either crook or they are "wombats"
