Yeah Songha, feel lucky. I guess in the motor city I am screwed for having a "sports car" that isn't one of the big three. I am going to have to check around I guess, but I doubt that it will go lower. I have snow tires for the winter... but I guess that wont matter till later.

I heard it is due to the higher accident rate with the frs. This isn't going to deter me from keeping my car, but DAMN!
That does seem high ....... I don't care who you are or where you live.......

Just to add to your apple/orange thing .... I pay $77 per month - USAA/average coverage/old man/just drives to the grocery store .....

Man humfrz, kick me while I am down! j/k I have checked a few other places I can drop it a bit, but still high. I think the cheapest I was able to get it down with two cars was $230-240 a month depending on coverage. With Citizens it is $303 a month... sigh.

This is up from $177 a month in the last policy cycle (though then we had the FR-S and a 2012 Ford Focus SE, so some of the cost increase is due to his new car which also has a shiny turbo in it... and insurance seems to no likey the turbo).

We also have renter's insurance with Progressive and $500 deductible.
Oy! I changed to Progressive back in March of this year. GEICO had raised my rate to $155.00 more for the year so I switched. Paid only $485.00 for 6 months. Hoping Progressive won't be raising it come October or I'll be shopping around again.

Progressive didn't raise us until the at-fault claim, so you probably have nothing to worry about unless that happens or something changes in your coverage or living situation.

I am not looking forward to seeing what happens next cycle. Husband has had two at-fault claims in under a year. Prior to that (as in, I got my car back from the shop 2 1/2 weeks before he wrecked it), the only claim was when someone rear ended the guy behind me and shoved him into my car - so not at-fault since I was sitting at a stop light.

Yep, plus a few other discounts:

* hasn't hit the garage door casing backing out

* hasn't pulled away from the gas pumps with the nozzle still inserted

* hasn't ran into the grocery store by hitting the gas instead of the brake

* always signals (whether turning or not)

* no tickets for going 20 in a 55 mph zone

Like other posters have said .... lots of factors involved. But the one constant I see is that insurance companies always seem to RAISE their rates regardless.

Shop your rates. Play with the numbers. Go with a higher deductible. Combine with home or apartment ins.

Depends a lot on the individual's situation.

Mine actually went down $4 a month last renewal. Same company, no changes. Don't know why and not going to ask.

15 frs, 99 cavalier z24, and 00 chevy 3500 van all are $1200 a year from progressive. It is about half of what I was paying the last 20 years.
Not sure what happened but I'm not complaining. No more tickets and better credit probably helped. Maybe I'm getting old like tcoat and humfrz and they feel sorry for me?
