I tell them "safety cone orange"!

Why do you guys often refer to your cars by colour name?
"That's my Asphalt FRS!"

The only time I've ever heard of cars referred to by their colour's name is 911s and old Mopars, like Plum Crazy. In those cases though it's special colours.

So, why?

Most of us have 5 or 6 of them so we have to differentiate....

Because like every other scion owner we're too insecure about our individuality and have to do anything to differentiate from the crowds (same with Subaru owners 'no I'm not a lesbian, look I lowered it! can't take my dogs to go skiing in this baby!')./asshole

I like telling people I drive a Scion, those who don't care go 'oh that's sensible' or don't know enough to go further, those who do ask what kind and when I say FRS it always gets a positive reaction.

Also cuts down on the explaining bullshit people like to complain/brag/feel superior about around here. Color only comes into play if people ask or if I'm pointing it out in a crowd.

Rarest normal production are Hot Lava as it is only FRS and WRB as it is only BRZ (although it would not seem that rare on here).

Then of course you have your special edition colours that are way rarer then normal production (See R.1 yellow as proof)
BRZs are only 20% of total sales.
GBS was only 8% of those and has been discontinued.
You do the math.

And I was not aware that Ultramarine is the same as GBS.

Ya the fact they are the same colour with different names is not a secret just do a quick Google search.
But.... if the GBS has been discontinued then it will not take long at all for it to become the rarest (regular production colour that is).
And... should they start producing the current special edition colours on regular stock the GBS will go even higher on the "rare" list.

Having said all that sometimes having a "rare" regular production colour can seriously hurt the resale value as they are rarer then the rest for a reason (usually not as popular which is also why they discontinue certain colours). When I bought mine I wanted the Ultramarine or the Hot Lava and would not take anything else. They tried very hard to get me to take another colour and explained that it was a good move when they became "collectors" cars as the more popular colours would be worth more!

Yeah, all the shared colors are the same... just named differently.

Whiteout=SWP
Raven=CBS
etc... etc.

WRB, Hot Lava and Silver Ignition (and now RS 1.0 yellow) are exclusives.

Well as far as rarity I have a (lightning) red BRZ, '14 is the first year of the red in Canada. Haven't seen another one yet

But my detailer friend even asked me about it. So it's not a forum thing.

I guess I should have phrased the question better; why say Asphalt instead of grey? lol

Why do FRS/BRZ owners refer to their cars with colour name?

Because asphalt is better than grey.

But for real, I have no fkn clue.

Edit: at meets I'm the odd one out asking people "is that your blue/red/black/orange one?"

WRB is actually one of the most common colors for the BRZ. The rarest BRZ color is in fact GBS, as it was only made on the 2013s; Ultramarine is Scion-exclusive now.

Wait...what color is my car though?
Its called "Silver Ignition." and yes its the 2nd rarest color with 2500 production models, next to the RS1.0 Yellow, with only 1500 in production. (Not 1000 whoever said it).

What number is yours!?
Mine is #2199!

The first thing that ever attracted me to my car WAS the color...I had the chance to buy any of them (minus the RS1.0) and they offered me to swap out of it...and I still went with the 10. Though...I do work for Toyota, so I can swap the 10 for an RS1.0 next year if I want...lol. Just really love THIS one.
