Do you have a number/product ID that I can run past them?

Frustrating because I support Michelin, and get great support from my dealer, but have to use Bridgestone semis on track

You'll need to figure out who your local distributor is for Michelin slicks. These are not available to normal tire dealers, just how Pirelli and Yokohama slicks are only available through their motorsport distribution networks.

You'd be looking at around $3k/set, but if you truly would rather have more grip than anything, there is nothing stickier.

Any solid videos or literature anyone could point me too would be much appreciated.
Have you had an instructor with you? I'd get one of those instead if you haven't.

Its been a couple years, and it was during a time when I was still learning track etiquette, so that was the focus. I have not had one since.

I'm going to ask around at the next event I go to, but in the meantime I'd like to do some reading/watching. All the videos I find on youtube are advertisements for driving instructors and do not include any actual instruction.

This is one of those activities where you have to actually do it while getting instruction, not just read up on it.

It's like reading/watching about going to the gym, vs actually going. All the reading in the world will not help you become a better driver, and without making the errors in person, you won't understand what you are reading.

I think you're going to be hard pressed trying to find information like that, for free especially. Every track is different, and video/written instruction I feel would be next to useless unless it was directed at your specific track of choice and car being used.

Theory vs Practical..

Are those brake rotors still good for a last track day?
They don't really have any gooves in them. But a couple of spots aren't shiny anymore. No cracks and no vibrations when braking.

Yes, but you DEFINITELY need more pad.

Thanks, what are you seeing on the rotors that make you say I need more pad?
I have carbotech XP8, and I didn't feel any fade during the 20 min sessions. My last session it was getting dark (evening), and i had trouble with the braking zone. I was braking too early (and not hard enough), so maybe that heated more the brakes, but I still didn't feel any fade.

I had an autoX yesterday, and that made the "matte streak" a bit worse. I have a track day (HDPE not autoX) next week-end, but the track is not that hard on the brakes I think (will be my first time on that track).

Just because you don't feel fade, doesn't mean you're not overheating the pad.

The XP8 is the most entry level of pads, and the streakign you are seeing is a result of overheating that pad.

You need more pad; spending a more up front will effectively multiply your pad life at this point.

This may be a dumb one but how much is the master cylinder brace actually needed? I don't recall ever hearing about them in other vehicles I've owned but suddenly with the 86 it seems like anyone who goes with stainless lines also gets a master cylinder brace.

Is the OEM setup really that flimsy? Does it really increase pedal feel that much? I don't suppose there's any side-by-side video showing the comparison? Has anyone had the master cylinder bend/break off without reinforcement?
