Our transmission is no R154 that is for sure. I never had a transmission that is smooth/quiet as the R154.

Sounds familiar...

S2000s had an early recall for a clutch rattle. TSB 054 IIRC.

Usually coming down to around 4,000 RPM in sprited driving, it was a very 'springy' chatter and was the cluch plate spring.

Could you be hearing the same thing?

It's normal.. My last car had the same noises under the same conditions.. All normal.. Lots of noises come thru into the cabin.. Due to less noise insulation and having the transmission/clutch assembly right there next to you..
Many who owned FWD cars are used to everything being isolated and cable attached so no noise or vibes get in.. Consider it feedback from the car.. Adds to the driving experience..
