Real drivers
I have been following this forum since the frs/brz went public, I drive the frs.
I find myself unable to remain silent in the face of so many overwhelmingly anoying posts. This car was built for real drivers. Armrests are irrelevant, keep two hands on the wheel! Stereo's; please, listen to the car. A sunroof? I can't even comment on that one. Who cares if toyota and or subaru did the most work. You should only care that when you exited that last corner you were not even sure about entering, you now have a hard time finding your breath and you are in need of a change of underwear! This car is for drivers who want to feel connected to the road... to make themselves a part of the driving experience... the rest of the bullshit is just that. Drive, and enjoy. onemorelap |

I understand the sentiment, sort of, but if we all did what you're saying would there even be a reason for the forum to exist?
Mine's a daily driver, not an occasional weekend toy (or a Scion commercial). My daily drive entails driving to work. The path to work doesn't include a road course, though it does allow for some spirited driving. A place to put my elbow sometimes and decent audio quality are somewhat relevant to my real-world use of the vehicle. I'll care about the things I care about and you can care only about reeling off the fastest corner speed and we'll both be alright. Apparently Scion will be helping remedy the armrest situation so we can all be happy. Different strokes. I like the car, and I enjoy learning about it and talking about it. But I'm not going to worship it or pretend it's the pinnacle of automotive design. I've owned and will own more hardcore, more enjoyable cars. But for the money it's very nice. |

Although I do enjoy listening to music while driving, I agree with the other points. To each their own though, some people like that stuff and also want the driving experience.

So now we have an equal amount of threads of why people think this car is good enough as we do threads of why people think this car isn't good enough. Will the madness ever stop? We all get it. 50% are content with 200hp and 50% want 300hp or more. We don't need 600 threads justifying each individual persons opinion.
OP I'm not bashing your thread specifically so dont feel singled out. This is about the multiple threads made daily about the same subject over and over. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

the car is over priced. For 28k, you should have all those things, steering wheel controls, sunroof, center console, lock on glove box, better visors etc... It doesn't even have double wish bone suspension front or rear. |

Wow, how very existential of you. I totally agree and simultaneously disagree. There's a puritan, visceral and even ethereal beauty about driving in the moment, driving from corner to corner with a youthful rage. How could one not be in love with such a concept? This is the stuff car enthusiasm dreams are made of and that I can respect. The part that I don't agree with is the part that hits close to home, the part about how people aren't "real drivers". The content of this isn't the issue, the origin of the premise is. To say that because someone doesn't enjoy their toys the same way and for the same reasons that you do is to imply they are "doing it wrong" is to being your approach on a false premise. this hits close to home because years ago I made similar claims. Quite a wake up call when I realized everyone enjoys just about everything differently than I do. And just for fun, just because it's the internet let's address the "real driver" accusation. My "real car" has no armrest, no stereo, no AC, no power steering, no ABS, no cruise control, no functioning headlights, no interior, and I have to wear earplugs and helmet to "drive it" and I only get to do that after I trailer it to my destination! Ok, so where am I going with this?.... Well, not everyone races a car, it's unrealistic (and ridiculous) for me to assume that 99.9% of the population aren't "real" drivers because they don't hold a racing license. Also, what is a "real" driver? How many episodes of Initial D do I need to watch before I become one? |
