I just installed mine and I may have found the source of your high rpm rattle. Make sure that when it's in gear the set screw is not contacting the reverse lockout pin. If the set screw is resting on the pin it will rattle. I haven't driven yet so obviously I can't confirm this is the case. Just an observation.

There is no contact with the set screws in 3rd and 4th. And it makes no difference to the other gears.

I was still getting too much annoying rattle, mainly in the odd gears when accelerating through about 4K rpm or so. I took a piece of foam rubber and put it under the reverse button. I made it thick enough for it to make contact between the button and main shaft just as the button is getting tightened all the way down. This makes it harder to press the button for reverse, but still doable. I removed the tape I had used to prevent vibration as it was causing to much friction for the button assembly to slide properly. A quick drive confirmed this is as quiet as I've gotten it so far. Still some vibration mostly in 3rd gear, but while accelerating through about 5k rpm now. Much better for me, a fun driving trip next week will confirm if I've gotten it tolerable enough for me now.

I had one break on me, kind of.. the reverse lock out gets stuck, looks like the bicycle cable lost slack or something on top.. are the screws to take off the shift button just the hex screws and the cogpin held in by snapring clips?

You should just have to take out the set screws and then unscrew the button by hand. I haven't removed any clips on mine. I'll be curious to see exactly what happened to yours.

This happened to mine when I was testing it jus dry shifting it while stationary. I found that the black cable cover came out of the bottom part and the reverse lockout rod wasn't fully releasing. Wiggle the cable feed into the bottom piece and when it gets in, the reverse lockout rod fully releases.

I've had mine about 3 months now and it gets better as it ages it seems. It was initially very stiff but either it loosened up or I got used to it or both. Also I found the high rpm rattles annoying but I found that simply pulling the shift boot cover up the shaft as far as it will go "muffles" most of rattles that come from the base of the shifter. Seems like the reverse lock out button is pretty quiet on mine.

I'm loving it more and more every day 😄

word on the street is that they have redesigned the unit that eliminates the rattling. The rattling is really annoying so I'm kinda wondering if they would "warranty" claim it due to it being somewhat of a defect....

Has anyone here dealt with irp personally? I am just curious to make sure everything is legit. May custom order something directly from them. Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with Marcel or anyone else?
