Q: What is worst than your guy friends making fun of you for getting an Auto? (On that note, sure it is very high-school-ish to be like that, but hey your boys will always be your boys. Would you want it any other way? Sh*t talking among friends keeps things fun.)
A: Having badass girls that know how to drive a manual and love it for their own cars making fun of you. |

Almost everyone will try to tell you or make you feel like you made a mistake by buying an automatic. Try one. You will either find that it suits your needs or it won't. Make your own choice. I chose an automatic because it works for me. I don't regret my decision at all. Just annoying how some people consider it less manly or how it kills the conversation when they find out that it isn't a stick. There are far worse automatics than the one in the FR-S (and actually it is one of the best). A dual clutch would have been good as well, but, at least it isn't a CVT.

fact is there will not be anymore manual cars soon
It is also possible that there won't be any antiquated torque converter AT with the development of the DCT (referring to sports cars). |

It is also possible that there won't be any antiquated torque converter AT with the development of the DCT (referring to sports cars).
Torque converter is to be replaced by an electric motor very soon. Planetary transmissions are here to stay: smoother shifting, lighter, easily handle more torque and cheaper to make. DCT is the odd duck without significant advantages over a planetary transmission. In very low torque applications DCT work slightly better than current torque converter planetary transmissions. Otherwise, the slush box is king. |

Yup, not too far away now.
You can't buy a Ferrari with a manual shift. BMW makes a special manual version of its M5 for the US market only. There are no advantages to a manual shift transmission in our modern computer controlled automobile world. |

It so sad to see manual going the way of the dinosaur. Frs is the first manual car I've own and now I miss my car everytime I hope into an auto.
I understand I can never shift as fast as some of the modern day auto technology. But it will NEVER never be as fun as a manual. I.m not looking to shave nanoseconds off my ran to the McDonald, just trying to have as much fun as possible in my daily routine. |

No , not at all. Really like how I can use the paddle shifters and the manual mode if I want to, or just keep it in Auto. Great options for whatever mood you are in!

Although I was a competent MT driver all of my vehicles have been AT. Until now that is.
I wanted a change. The car was purchased in July and I am extremely happy with my choice. I love it. The MT connects me to the driving experience better than paddles. My last car was a e90 328 w/ sport pkg and paddle shifters. If I ever get another BMW it will be a MT for certain. Nothing wrong with AT, I just think MT is more fun and engaging. It keeps you head into the driving experience more. |

A flick of the fingers isn't as fun as a good row through the gears.
But now autos even get better gas mileage. It's a bit of a bummer, manuals are so much fun. |
