I fail to see the reason to acknowledge someone else in a similar car. Kind of awkward if you ask me.

It's fun! Like we're in a secret club or something.

If no one's around, I honk the horn real quick. Otherwise I wave.

It's understandable you have had your FRS for a short amount of time, I think you grow out of the "chase every twin you see down to wave at em" stage. Ive had mine for over 18 months and live in San Diego where I see 100 twins a day..lol..unless its modified and catches my eye I don't really go out of my way anymore honestly. The majority I see look stock.

Nah, it's a long tradition. Harley riders wave at each other with that under-the-handlebar hand motion. British car owners wave at each other. Corvette owners will often acknowledge each other. Jeep owners will acknowledge each other when they are both lifted or significantly modded, but not when it's just a couple of stock Jeeps with soccer moms behind the wheel.

It really has to do with how scarce your vehicle is. It would be weird for Camry owners or Ford F150 owners to acknowledge each other. If we get to a point where there are 1,000,000 twins on the road in the US, it might be weird for us to acknowledge each other then, because we would have a lot of drivers among us then who just needed transportation and didn't really care that much about the car.

But that's not likely to happen. So for now, with there still being so few of us in most of the country, and with all the weird quirks of this car, it's entirely appropriate to acknowledge another twin on the road. It says, "Hey, we have something in common that 99% of the rest of these bozos don't understand."

Just think of the results if Mustangs started honking at each other!!!!!!
Like has been said several times already it is the rarity in some areas that makes the difference.
When you see about one a month like I do it is still fun but if I saw 100 a day like in some areas I would be all like "meh" already.

Well the "Spotted" threads on all the Regional subs seem to be going strong so some people still have an interest in seeing others.
Even in San Diego!

If it's stock, nothing. If it's modded and i catch the drivers eye I'll give a nod.

I always wave out the widow or wave from the steering wheel. I usually get no love back. For me its fun when they wave back, not just because we're both in the same car, but it shows that both I and the other person are scanning the road for interesting cars, we see a familiar car and acknowledge the other person because we recognize the like mindedness.

My dad always did it in his Corvette to other Vetter drivers, and I wave to other bikers when I'm on my motorcycle (regardless of what they ride). It's not about "yay we drive the same thing", its more a feeling of "hey, we are both enthusiasts who enjoy the search for other enthusiast. the fact that we were both scanning the road for interesting cars, recognized each other, and put in the effort to acknowledge each other shows we are both on the same page".

Plus its funny when my conversations with my girlfriend go like this, "So I was telling Jim that he can't mix acid, TWIN!, and water because it will blow up."
