So I did my own modification today, taking the ideas from this thread and expanding on it a bit...

I have a TRD intake so this might have even MORE benefit for me.

First thing I did was swiss cheese the plastic blocker plate thingy a bit more.

Then I used an exacto knife and scissors to modify my snorkel. I also used a spread clamp and heat gun to spread the intake out a bit more for a more rounded shape.

I decided to keep both mounting points installed and turned half of the "tube" into a bit of an airflow blocker/director so it should send air to the intake even better

The TRD is a LOT louder now, but its the kind of loud that only gets loud when you step on it which is what I wanted Haven't done any high speed testing yet to see if it helps.

Interesting will be if pictures attached+ data log before and after may help one to decide, which solution better.
Please add your pictured results/hesitations here.

One question before I consider this.

How will this be in heavy rain? I there a path where rain can seep/gush into the opened up intake? I drive my car in all kinds of weather and the oblique stock opening and long path to the filter may have a function there...

Take a look at the hks intake duct, not saying buy one as they are very expensive

http://hksaustralia.com.au/pdf/New%2...0999-AT001.pdf

But I would imagine hks did a bit of testing.

the other thing you may need to consider is many have reported its very difficult to get the front nose of the car to sit perfectly (panel gaps) once you have taken it off to fit /modify snorkels or oil/intercoolers.

Can you be more specific? So are you saying that the bumper wont align well when removing the bumper for any modification that requires removal of the bumper?

I have had this snorkel on my car for almost a year now and never had any water actually make it to the airbox. You would have to be going through a deep puddle before you had any issues.

yes thats what i have heard/ read a couple of times
I have not removed it myself, have heard from others that it is difficult to get it looking perfect again, Panel shops may have a few tricks maybe heating ? or they are just better at getting it on/off without stressing clips or bumper or the jokers that removed their,s were just rough :-)
