Also, if your going fixed seat and harness you really need some form of ROPS (roll over protection), i.e. roll cage, because in the the event of a roll over, due to being locked in upright from the harness, without ROPS, your head and neck will now be the things taking the hit. https://www.supercars.com/videos/201...in-townsville/ With a 3 point, your shoulder can drop, thus getting your melon out of the crush zone. Something like this for the street and the occasional track day or khana would be good https://www.renowngarage.com/blog/re...oint-roll-bar/ Or this https://gspeed.com/product/ft86-bolt-in-roll-bar/ Because this http://www.speedhunters.com/2017/12/...ing-harnesses/ http://www.speedhunters.com/2017/07/roll-cage-tech/ As for mounting the seats, if you cannot pick up the OEM locations, you may require plates underneath, no point in having all the good gear, only to have the fixtures rip through the floor in the event of an accident. Food for thought

I would suggest having a professional race shop handle the install for you.
Edit: and have them fab you a roll bar while they're at it |

I bet those seats are universal and will need specific gt86/brz/fr-s seat brackets to install them.
I totally destroyed an OEM seat trying to salvage the seat rail. I ended up throwing it away and purchasing new seat brackets to install my racing seats. Then you drill your bracket and mount the seat to it. No drilling on the car. The new seat bracket (if you have ordered the correct one) will bolt to the factory seat location.

Plus cheap and poorly fixed seats can kill. Legalities might be a issue IRT airbags, or lack of them.

86MLR: expensive and well fixed seats can kill aswell. That's why such seats are street-illegal setup (at least in countries that care about safety and enforce modification legality rules), as one needs in addition to such also multipoint harness and rollcage and wear helmet, but due reducing visibility helmet is no-go on streets either. Catch 22.
I'd probably go to what's still legal, as in reclaimable recaros, instead of braking the law or modding car to track-only non-street-legal one. At most would add to that seat also bolton harness bar like Essex's + helmet & multipoint safety belts (it that combo gets allowed on local tracks) only on track, while daily driving with stock belt on streets. |
