Lol yea downpipes connect the hot side of a turbo to the cat or test pipe since turbos are usually situated higher up than regular headers. I know it's late but you made me second guess my knowledge there for a second lol.

i keep putting off taking an auto body class to further my under the hood knowledge. unfortunately all the car guys i know with under the hood expertise are guys old enough to be my dad...and they're all guys i work with (white collar/stuffy corporate). i'd just rather learn from someone i know than a professor/instructor- cuz i dont' see myself becoming a certified auto tech anytime soon. maybe i'll just start watching stuff on youtube.

I'm assuming you said downpipe as in remove the cats? In the old days you could gain a lot of power that way, but now it's rare to pick up more than 3HP at the crank.

I hope this is true. This is the only thing stopping me from wanting a BRZ/FRS!!! 5-100 sucks ass and I can't find a good price rim with a nice offset combination.

5x114 is a must. There is not much out there that is 5x100 with a good low offset. I mean, im getting more SSRs either way and you can specify which bolt pattern you want. Im hoping for the ability to fit low offset wheels. No higher than +12 to be flush. I want some lip yo!!

And you guys don't think wheel manufacturers will start producing more of their rims in 5x100 if this car builds a market for it?

I'm willing to bet they just used STI hubs. Subaru uses a standard bore for their bearings and spindles, meaning STI hubs would be a direct fit. Not a cheap option, but not really difficult.

Just for one car? You must be smoking crack. Most popular cars are 5x114. I was looking at multiple sites and the selection sucks ass for 5x100. It's too limited and not enough variety.

I would say both sides of this arguement have merit. It was a nightmare trying to find decent wheels for S13's and non SE/LE S14's for the longest time, 4x114.3 with odd offsets. People were paying an arm and a leg for OEM parts to do 5 lug swaps. Within the last couple of years, manufacturers saw the popularity of hte platform, and started making wheels available for 4 lug cars that previously were not. 5Zigen made wheels specifically designed around the S chassis. Not to mention aftermarket hubs to do 5 lug conversions. All it will take is a few requests from owners directly to the manufacturers requesting this stuff and it will happen. Until we as enthusiasts make it clear that there is a market for this stuff though, it won't be provided. So either write Ichiba and tell them you want a 5x114.3 conversion kit, or start hitting up your favorite wheel manufacturers and let them know what you're looking for. it's not hard for them to take a wheel blank and drill it in the pattern you want. They all go through the same machining process, the tool and die sets are already in place for 5x100, we just have to show them the demand is there.

You have no clue how wheels are manufactured do you? the PCD is the last bit of the equation. So many wheel makers offer blanks that you can have drilled to match your car. It's really not that big a deal. **edit* What Vito said. As long as it becomes a popular platform, everybody and their sister will want to make parts that fit it. |
