Valenti Tails on Dark grey (Asphalt) BRZ/86
hey, I'm pretty torn on which Valenti tails to get on my new dark grey BRZ (I know, just seems like there are more people on this camp here ).
Smoked - looks pretty sick, but worried it might attract coppers Clear red - the white stripe doesn't look that attractive on the dark grey car? Half red chrome - Is it too red??? What are your thoughts? 4 years late though :/ |

You are about to get a ton of differing opinions, none of which will really help you. I will provide my own thought process and hope it helps you a little.
After owning my car for almost a year now, I am still running stock tails. I was originally thinking of getting a smoked tail light because I liked how clean it looked on our color. I decided against it because it really reduces the visibility to the rear (you will come to learn that you will want to do everything you can to be visible, as A-holes will try to run you off the road all the time since they have a hard time seeing us in our small cars that are the same color of the road). I debated getting the clear lens Toms for a bit too, but many people have been experiencing issues with those.. What I think I have concluded is a good look for us DGM/Asphalt owners is stock tails that have been redded out. It looks pretty good in my opinion. Either that, or wait and see how much I like the new OEM tails that come on the 2017's.. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7826

I've had the smoked Valentis for about two years and I have had absolutely zero issues with them. I've never been pulled over by the police for them. Whenever I see a cop I like to turn my lights on because it's extremely difficult to tell that the tail lights are smoked when the lights are on. I think they look great with my asphalt FRS and I don't ever regret buying them. That being said, the Valentis are pretty hard to see on a bright sunny day when the lights aren't on. Sometimes I consider leaving my lights on all the time but I always forget :/

I have wondered about this question for ages.
Let me tell you my personal opinion. The Smoked- It's way too dark. It makes your car have literally no contrast at all. Smoked lenses are for light colored cars and not a dark one. Clear red- I agree with you 100%. The white light tube looks really off. Half red chrome- Stay away from this too. The red looks good but the chrome and clear parts of the valentis looks sooooo terrible. I went with the Valenti STYLE Taillights. It has the sequential turn signal too. http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/vale...l#.V12zWuYrKRs These are the ones I bought, along with the GCS smoked Reverse lights. I woulda went with Red-Red reverse lights but they are apparently on national back order and I don't want to wait. The valentis I linked are personally the best looking ones by-far on the DGM. The white tube isn't as noticeable because the casing is so red. I think you would agree since it seems like you think the same way I did. |

^^^ I disagree with this guy but to each his own. Here's what the smoked Valenti tails look like on my car.

I'm going half red chrome on mine. Hoping it looks good, I pondered this for quite a long time. Smoked would be a good choice for me if the tube was red (which I think there was a special edition that had a red bar but no idea if its being sold anymore).

But personally, I feel like the red+dgm contrast looks better together. I bought the same smoked reverse lights though, glad that looks good on dgm. Nice car tho |

Fat Free - that looks real nice, but being in silly Singapore, changing your OEM lights out for ANY LED mods is technically illegal. I just feel that smoking it out just attracts them popo that little bit more.
DGM-BRZ - Im quite with u on this one. it looks pretty good. any pictures? 00NissanNinja - do you have any pictures of your car with lights on/off? |

Valenti Red/Chrome on Black The new Helix looks pretty interesting as well, not sure if it will look any good on dark grey. |

@g_moles I have the same colour and have debated the same thing. I also think that the smoked would be a little too mucg. I like the FT86SF Edition ones and think they would look good. I'm also not a fan of the chrome of the middle one you posted, however the top one looks good as well.

@g_moles sure when I get them. Won't be here till the middle of this week. Black car posted is pretty good approximation of how it'll look on the dark gray.

This is the vid I watched to finalize my decision. Ours is a DGM/Asphalt color but you can get a good idea of how it'll look I just ordered em a few days ago so it wont be here for a few weeks, sadly. |

Go for the smoked! I have a dark grey twin and I was in the same boat as you, I was really torn on which to get. After a few beers I ordered the smoked ones and they're still my favorite addition to my car.
