Spun rod bearing, getting new shirt block but time to let it go?

My 13 had a spin rod bearing about 3 weeks ago. It’s still under CPO warranty and the dealership is replacing the short block. They also offered to buy it back for 3 grand more than I owe. What do I do? Sell or count on the problem being fixed with the new short block?

Did they determine a root cause of the failure?

I had my 2013 FRS spin a rod at 60k miles and the extended warranty covered the $12k to rebuilt it, I did the recall about 4k miles ago it running like a champ. I did notice my idle was not stable before it failed, now the idle is very stable so basically I got a new engine and drove it over 65k miles. I also had to replace my clutch due to the TOB TSB. I think I have encountered every TSB with this car. I really like the new Supra if I can get one at MSRP and a fair trade in I might consider it.

I'm on the same boat, the idle was weird a couple days before it went. How many miles do you currently have on the rebuilt engine?

How much are they offering you? 3k more than you owe could be $3001. And how much does a working one go for with similar mileage and condition?

They are offering 11k and I owe 8. I would not buy another 2013 given all the service bulletins for engine issues.

How many miles? Salvage or regular title? General condition other than the engine?

Anyway, unless it's a really high mileage car, you should be able to get it fixed then sell it for 14-15k. Plus you have a bit of warranty left, which is worth a lot when selling.

Thanks. So you don't think that the fact it has a new short block will discourage people from buying it?

General condition: mint. No engine mods, just a K&N filter and sound resonator delete. Brand new wheels and tires, valenti tails, 2k in audio upgrade, speakers, receiver and subwoofer.

Regular title. 65k miles.

It's worth more than 11k once the engine is repaired. I definitely wouldn't take less than 13k, and I wouldn't take less than 14k unless I just wanted to dump the car.

They'll fix the engine, turn around, and ask 16k on the lot.
