LOOK WHAT JUST CAME IN! D2BD Motorwerks two piece trunk brace! cant wait to install it!

This thing is beautiful i am in love with the candy red paint, but really what do you guys think?

These will be on sale shortly and I will hopefully have this installed soon.

On a side note Stephen over at D2BD (dare 2 be different motorwerks) is nothing shy of awesome to work with, he is a great guy and has been in the industry for a long time, formerly known in the industry as ScionPro he know works under the name D2BD MOTORWERKS, He goes out of his way to help everyone he talks to and has beat every price i've been looking at with things.

Not sure I like the idea of the bar sitting so far from the seat back. Kinda neuters the already limited trunk space.

Bump for a nice product. I prefer the one that is flat with the rear seatback though. Keeps the trunk far more useful and allows access to the spare for removal.

what spare? Oh wait i put a sub there HAHA lol, I personally like this design because it not only braces the struts but the quarter panels as well, really excited to get it installed.

Well whatever is there, I like removing it for track days / autocross. Additionally from most everything I've read, the rear strut brace makes next to no difference in terms of performance.

I'd be beyond shocked if this makes any noticable difference in torsional rigidity. :shrug:

Looks pretty and further limits the usefullness of the trunk though.

Could you explain to me exactly why you think the rear needs bracing? I was under the impression that double wishbone suspension setups gained absolutely nothing from strut bars because the strut tops don't actually experience anything other than vertical loading.

since the rear shocks arent supporting load they arent dealing with the same forces that the front struts deal with but i guess there would be some observable reduction in flex in something somewhere. whether that translates into objective peformance gain or even subjective feel is something im skeptical about. im even sketical about strut tower bars on modern cars.

I can tell you that I can definitely feel a difference in the front end with my grimmspeed strut bar. It is very noticeable but wether it equates to measurable improvements in lap times I do not have data to support that claim. Any improvement is likely attributable to increased confidence in the feel of the front end.

Rear strut bars however are pure snake oil and the aftermarket is capitalizing on the uniformed buyers or those looking for the bling factor. I often wonder exactly how many of the available bracing products actually do something or are made and sold simply because there is a perception of need.

yeah thats what i gather. i think grimspeed themselves only measured a reduction in deflection of 12nm at its greatest point. there is probably a difference in settling time with the suspension and i think that the added driver confidence has value despite the unproven objective performance gain.
