Hi guys,
does someone know how the traction control function works? Can I adjust the VSC mode with the slider to be less restrictive when using semi slicks?
Thanks Chris

Its not a standard setting but one your tuner would have to do/be happy to setup. It doesn't interface with the stock VSC/TSC.

I have finally got my hands on one to start doing some testing. I can confirm that it pretty much replaces the cable, the mini USB connection allows flashing and logging with ProECU. It's also a nice touch that the app (Android in my case) remembers the logging parameters, something that the laptop software doesn't.

Thinking about picking this up. Does that mean I'd need another license? Can't really do any logging lately, my beater laptop ate it and I don't feel like buying another. New features would be nice too.

No new license but you do need a EVI compatible tune, RR V9.1, to be able to do the full logging.

Hey kode
I see ecutek are packagine the blutooth and a dongle key now instead of the old USB interface . Assume you dont need the dongle key to log or chamge tune parameters on the tablet or phone , just need the dongle key to flash tunes or full logging via ecutek laptop software ?

The firmware on the BT device allows you to use a mini USB cable to flash with it, pretty much making the original cable obsolete. Therefore the dongle is the same as before, just the laptop license. There is nothing for the phone/tablet, I guess that's not an issue as it's only a logging device.

I've been exchanging messages with Chris at EcuTek and he asked for my suggestions for future features and enhancements to the ECU Connect app. My response was that I wanted slick looking gauges to monitor vital engine and ECU parameters in realtime, but everyone already knows that. I want to give him some great feedback and EcuTek seems genuinely interested in deleoping the app. Help me out, guys - what are some of the other features that you would like to see incorporated as EcuTek continues to develop their software?

I'm not sure it's worth duplicate torque app functionality in it a good idea. Will take lot of efforts, and there will be many complaining that it's still not as good or not as functional, etc.
Imho complete functionality of what can be done with cable connected should be fine. +Price drop (also because of not spending money on developing redundant/duplicated features ).
What I would wish from ecutek in general - given locked out most tunes, still add some limited subset of still user tunable parameters, that would allow do some fine-tailoring of OTS tunes w/o remote tuning. So that user can purchase some OTS tune, do some logging, do some own fine-tuning/MAF scaling/whatever alike.

@RJasonKlein I asked for pedal dance a while back.... Suggest it again It would also be good to be able to use the laptop to adjust the custom inputs when connected via USB (dyno tuning etc). Also BT connections with a laptop too to work with ProECU.

This makes no sense.... Would you rather have to use 2 dongles, 2 apps and lose the custom parameter inputs when using torque, or just have it all in one. I've been meaning to ask them this myself.

Already done.

You know by now that MAF scaling has a bigger knock on affect than just fixing fuel trims so where do you draw the line? Access to ignition timing and fuel, maybe the AVCS needs adjusting, but might be all controlled in a custom map or by SD so now you need full RaceROM access anyway..... Not everyone locks tunes, but that's up to you and those tuners that do you can get them to adjust the map for you. Either that or build you own using the End user software.

@Kodename47, It would be good if the bluetooth interface app adjustments were available via the pro ecu software via wired old style dongle to obd port and laptop

but I suppose that would effect the sales of the blutooth dongle setup

In this sense, yes. But then i'd change it rather to "add generic OOB dongle functionality to it so it can be reused with torque alike apps", then ask to "develop something similar". Isn't Ecutek tunable platforms a bit narrower niche then OBD in general / apps for displaying it's data? Yet they will need to pay as much for developer manhours as torque did, to reinvent wheel, as making something subpar (even if just by customisability or graphical eye candy) will rather rise users criticising/comparing with. That extra devpower may count to lot of money. And should those costs be pushed down on all the ecutek users? Just bluetooth dongle buyers? You'll be ok with paying $500 extra?

If it's there, I can't seem to do it. You can log the input values on ProECU but can't have the BT and USB running simultaneously so it's a bit pointless.

As the BT device appears to be becoming the replacement of the original cable product, I doubt it will take away any sales. I now log using the phone, it's just so much easier, and then send to Dropbox when it's done. It's on my laptop almost immediately. The phone also remembers your parameters, so you don't have to add/remove every time like the laptop software. The only time I would rather full laptop use is for the dyno for instant log viewing and map adjustments and hence why being able to manipulate the 5 custom inputs via the cable and laptop would be a great idea.
