$6K+? This is for a daily driver right? Maybe, maybe $2.5K is all I'd REALISTICALLY put into power upgrading my car. That's provided such tuning would not kill my mpg to start. Hell if I "feel the need of speed" isn't that what my R1 is for?

Have you ever added a quality forced induction turbo or S/C setup before? 5 to 6k is the norm for a pre fabricated and tuned kit.

They can go lower on some cars. You can get a basic kit from a known manufacturer for a Miata starting around $2000. Of course, they tend to go up with the value of the car as well. An acquaintance dropped $20k (installed) on a Stasis supercharger for his R8.

In all, I don't think the price is outrageous especially considering it's from HKS.

Still, the price like a low punch.
I would decrease the pocket requirements to release power on the pavement.

Thanks

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a supercharger from TRD. The TRD supercharger is a running joke on Lexus IS forums. The supercharger was promised at vehicle launch. Nothing ever materialized.

It seems pretty standard for Toyota to promise a supercharger for any car they think will have an enthusiast following. They're very likely to do that. They're much less likely to actually deliver the promised supercharger.

The only chargers they seem to release are for their trucks. I think they briefly had one for the tC years back, but took that off the market.

Well, I was expecting around $5,500 but the yen is pretty strong right now. If it includes an F-Con, then that sounds about right.

Thankfully I don't plan on boosting until the car is out of warranty, so that will give me time to see what other tuners come up with. I would love it if Kraftwerks or another U.S. would make a kit as I'm sure it would be just as good for less money. Not to hate on H.K.S. because they're one of the industry's heavyweights and usually first-to-market, but the prices are usually far beyond what I feel comfortable paying. I bet however, that resale on a car with parts from HKS (when properly installed and maintained, of course) would be better/more appealing than a car with parts from a small XYZ company.

Street prices will be lower and pricing wont be as simple as yen to dollar. I still like this setup more than a turbo just because of placement

I would love to see the dyno graph, if this has typical SC spool and torque curves, then this would be my second favorite power adder (first would be full bolt-ons with cams). If/when I pull the trigger on an FR-S, I want to maintain the linear power and immediate throttle response of N/A, and SC does a better job of that than turbocharging.

The kit is not available yet.

So far I know this - Boost is approx 0.6kg/cm2 on the kit but it has been fitted with an inlet air restrictor to limit airflow and power to 236PS as the plug in F-Con iS computer (pre programmed) and harness cannot control the chamber injector (only outboard injector in the intake runner). So with only extra fuel coming from the upstream injector only total power increase has been reduced to suit fuel flow. The engine itself is capable of up to 300ps (reliable) without modification same as the GT7040 Supercharger supplied in the kit without restriction.

So I'm trying to see if we can buy the kit less computer and harness for those that want to chase their own tuning solution which will allow a larger HP gain than the supplied F-Con iS piggyback. This has all come about because HKS haven't finished off their own flash tuner for the 86/BRZ yet so the kit had to be limited while running the F-Con iS computer. Even with the restrictor HP increased 28% and torque 33%.

As always I will post information when possible.

Below is a dyno graph and finished kit picture.
Cheers

No offense to HKS but I don't like the torque dip and the loss of power 6200 rpm and up. (If that is a real representation of the dyno plot). All the turbo kits alleviate this problem why can't this kit do it? Is it a limitation of the tuning (Fcon)?

It maybe more of a limit of the tuning device. It could be the case when tuned properly by someone like Visconti with decent software that the dip would disappear
