It's ok for other people to do things different than you do them, and it doesn't automatically make them idiots.

The Yaris is famous for being a 500k mile car. One guy reached that with nothing but brake shoes and tires. You obviously no nothing about cars, the Yaris is one of the most bullet proof cars left because its lightweight and small engine allows it to keep meeting fascists Café. I hope our boxers last like the pre OBD!! boxers but I doubt it.

There were a few on track in this thread to reach 100k miles by now, looks like they traded away or blew up the engine.

Man I'll be glad when this forum is full of used car owners instead of new car buyers complaining about rattles.

I think you misread my post. I was inferring $100K, not 100k miles. But hey...I obviously "no" nothing about cars...so who's to say what I really meant.

I bought a 93 Civic Si in 1999 from an accountant who kept a full log of mileage, maint, etc. He showed it all to me when I bought the car and it was in immaculate condition...but he wouldn't let me keep the logs.

I've always wanted to do something like this, and I try sometimes, but I'm never consistent. It's awesome you keep a log.

That's my addiction, and why I could never own an "investment" or a "super" car. If it's sitting in my garage, I'm going to drive it, which means I would be destroying it, and might as well just be throwing $100 bills out the window going down the street.

There are multiple ways of doing it, but I just made a habit of texting the information to my email address as I'm standing at the pump. So I send a text that looks like:

totalmileage...CurrentTankMileage.....pricepergall on...gallons...totalprice

I use the ... between because that keeps my phone keyboard from switching back to alpha between numbers. I do it in that order because the first two are done in the car, and the last three are done while standing at the pump.

my last one was

42566...361.0...3.899...11.314...44.11

I used to do only totalmileage gallons and pricepergallon but found the currenttankmileage and total price as a good checksum in case I fat finger something.

A lot of folks use Fuelly.com for it, but I just never could get around to it. My method is simple and I can move it into a spreadsheet once or twice a month when I have a few minutes.

For anyone interested the history can be seen in the first post here or follow the link in my sig.
