I did not -- decided to sleep in instead.

If anyone else has visited Mines lately, please let us know the condition...

I read a few posts on BARF last week and all the riders in the Mines thread were saying that the road conditions were unusually good for this time of year, no major issues. So it sounds like it's prime for driving right now.

I lurk there to get tips on Mines road conditions, and to see if anyone is trashing twins for reckless driving.

No mention of twin owners so far, but do see a few twins popping up in their photos of when they're at The Junction.

And wow that is a gnarly crash.

Used to frequent there back when I used to ride. Pretty much how I learned about all the roads we drive now ie redwood, mines, la honda, etc.

And yes, that is a gnarly crash from tail of the dragon I believe. I bet it was a little bit of target fixation where the bike saw the cyclists and just looked at em instead of looking at the path around them.

Drove hwy 9 from Saratoga to approximately 3/4 down 35 to Alice's and then turned back. Was really nice for most of the way except the occasional 20mph losers but . Weird weather though; mostly sunny with some clouds in San Jose when I left but some dark rainy looking clouds over the Santa Cruz mountains. When I got up the hill it started spritzing a good amount, but nothing too bad.

Went out to McArther, CA to look at an rx7 for a friend, some pretty nice mountain roads out there, almost feels like you can touch the sky.

Don't think I've ever been through there but looks like it's right by Lassen, which is a beautiful area. All the many volcanic features make for interesting driving backdrops.

Yeah living in Redding might be lame when it comes to career opportunity and schooling but we have a ton of different mountain/twisty roads to chose from within a 50 mile radius.

Funny enough, I turned down a couple of job offers in Anderson a few months back, mainly because I didn't want to relocate my family all the way over there. I'm in the central valley, so the sierra foot hills will do, too bad they are about 30-45mins away

You made the right choice, sure it's a lot more open around here but that's about all we have going for us, it's extremely boring and you'll find yourself traveling back to bigger cities for any enjoyment.
