Will Amsoil change their formulas to deal with the negative effects of high dose calcium on GDI engines?
Isn't the calcium issue more pertaining to turbocharged or supercharged cars?

LSPI (low speed preignition).
It has been discussed.
New tests are coming.

The huge amount of calcium in Amsoil keeps engines sparkling clean.

Will changes be necessary ?

Currently using 5W-40.
I feel like the car engine bay smells really bad when I was using 0W-20 if I drive it about 30-45 minutes.

Seems like as good of reason as any to switch to a non user manual specified oil weight!

Is anyone running anything different for high mileage cars? Have been running the recommended 0W-20 since 2012.

Getting close to 90,000 mark.

Spend 20 bucks and get a used oil analysis. 90k is perfect time. It will tell you how the engine is doing and if your OCI is good. Someone else’s car is different and tells you nothing. Running a thicker oil is not always better and will not save an engine long term.

On my 04 WRX I did it at 50k, 100k and next will be 150k in a few years. It’s worth every penny.
