Ah, ok.

I'm actually going to be doing back to back logs of the AIRAID and AFE tomorrow. It's finally cool enough up here to get some good readings.

Please send the air south, it's rather warm 88-90 this week.

I mean hell, I was the first one to post issues with your intake. My claims were IMMEDIATELY discredited by your company. The replies almost got to a tone of being rude, when all I was trying to do was HELP. Still, I see posts claiming that no one has reported issues to you. That simply isn't true. Now you're denying the results that third party, unaffiliated shops are providing on TWO separate vehicles? Do you realize how that looks?

Please don't take this as rude or condescending, it's not. But I just get frustrated whenever I see posts coming from you dismissing any negative feedback or experience. Yes, I'm vocal, but no, I'm not the only one. In fact there's another thread in this very forum with a user showing the SAME symptoms I was.
Thanks for saving me the time of writing a long post. Well put.

At this point my "real" issue is with my preception with the Airaid product and the data I'm seeing. Of course, when you get something shiny and new it's easy to get wrapped up in everything feels great side of the fence. When you can correlate this perception with some substantiated data from the manufacturer is when you're on cloud 9.

At this point, I'm just plain confused. Realistically, I'm stuck with the the intake. I don't think I can return the product or sell it to someone else. I mean at this point who would take it off my hands right? So here are some questions that I'd really appreciate some answers to...

1. So the Airaid intake makes more power with the sound generator removed???

2. And the snorkle behind the bumper removed too? I've done this already btw.

3. Should I reset my ECU? I never did this when I installed the intake.

4. Would Airaid or anyone else be willing to do some more testing? Only if to support/refute new data presented by independent parties?

Sound generator has no impact on performance.

Yes, this should be removed for the AIRAID (and the other intakes that butt up against that piece, as far as I know).

If you've already driven around with it for a length of time, it should've already learned on its own.

No disrespect, but I think the best bet is to bring your own car to a dyno and have it tested vs. stock intake for some comparisons. There seems to be too much variability in these dynos, to do a vehicle to vehicle comparison. Best to compare against your own baseline so that all of your mods, ECU, atmospheric conditions, test conditions, and dyno are all equal.

Every car is different. Every instance is different. Every scenario is different.

Dyno your own car to make your own conclusions.

Don't let this post jade any opinions.

Facts are facts, but for one tester being a sample is not a sample. Multiple testers with similar tests should yield the appropriate results.

It's all about sampling.

Right, which is why these posts are happening. More than one test/dyno has been conducted across multiple cars and the results are mostly similar... no power. Do I believe the dramatic loss in power? No. Do I believe the 5-7 hp claim on the box? No.

btw, here's some more third party testing across two BRZs.

??

I can't decide if I should bother putting the stock air box back on because I no longer have the snorkel behind the bumper. Looks like it'll be a Perrin or AFE for me.

Airaid is for sale

He follows me around and sporadically harasses me when I comment on products he favors.

When I put my stock airbox back in, I cut my snorkel just past the first mount. Much easier to install/remove and you can still suck in cold air with the stock box. Just a suggestion if you decide to go that route.

I'm really torn. I'm wondering if I should take the time to change back to the stock setup. Decisions decisions...

That is exactly what I did and it works well, very well.
