This looks awesome, but this is too much power, more specifically too much torque...at least for the street.

The Crawford guy said that he really only uses 25% of the power (in the modified version) on the street, while in the stock car he'd be at 110%.

This leads me to believe that there needs to be a middle ground...250-300hp would be perfect for this chassis.

The car sounds pretty good, and it looks like the trans (sans clutch) is holding up fine at these power levels.

Anyway I love these series by Farrah.

Quirt Crawford said they overheated it and it was acting up because of that. Idk if he's telling the truth or not.

kkakonn, do you have a source for this? I was curious about the same thing and can't find any reference to a kit availability.

Seems like heat is a major problem with these aftermarket FI kits. Shows the advantages of going with a factory-built car like the GT500, which not only has a better p/w ratio and factory warranty, but was also designed not to overheat under harsh track conditions. Just wish Ford would slash 1000 lbs off its weight and cut its size/height.

Matt Farah mentions it in the comments section:

"They are coming out with a consumer-grade Turbo setup next month, and will release pricing then. This car is currently on ebay with a starting bid at $60k, and Quirt told me that they plan to get 'a little bit less out of it than they have into it.' Granted, this was the first one, so it's probably a lot, but I wouldn't be surprised if $15k got you this exact setup once it's available for sale."

Agreed. Having that kind of power with relatively narrow tires and the low gearing these cars have is crazy for anything other than just a hard, straight-line pull. And that's kind of the exact opposite of why 95% of us bought our FR-S/BRZ. It's neat, but I think it would actually reduce the fun factor. I agree that 250-300whp would be awesome for this car, and would be plenty of power without impacting the fun factor...

Even though this is really nice, the cost is too much to justify putting into a new car for most people. After you do the block, head, turbo, exhaust, bigger tires, transmission, cooling to make this all work together, you would probably be in another $30K at the minimum. It would make more sense to spend the $50-$60k on a new car with the power like DarkSunrise said.

Now if you want to take an old car like an S14 and put $30K in, that's different.

Isn't this the car that was damaged when it had the encounter with the McLaren? So $60K for a once wrecked, often tracked, overheating and abused car. Sounds like a bargain to me!
